Yibo was always extremely lively and invested in Xiao Zhan. Xiao Zhan is quite social and flirtatious. Meanwhile, Yibo is sort of an introvert and shy around people. He doesn't like to speak that much or be physically close to others. I mean, he pays mild to normal attention to people overall, but he behaved like a hawk every time he was with Xiao Zhan, fixated on him. For example, Yibo was close with his fellow Uniq members, especially Sung-joo, but I had never seen him behave the same way as he did with Xiao Zhan. His expressions, his focus, his energy, all changed when he was with with him. He would try to get Xiao's attention all the time (including touching him most of the time as well), the way he would look at him from the corner of his eyes, or continuously telling him he looked handsome. Yibo is not a touchy-feely person so this was quite the particular behavior. Not to mention, the way the crew and other cast members reacted to their behavior. Like: "Get a room already." So, that may explain why people may think their relationship goes beyond the realm of mere friendship. If there was something more than friendship between them, Xiao Zhan was the more restrained of the two when in public. If not, it was one-sided and Yibo had strong feelings for Xiao Zhan. Now, and this is my opinion, as much as I would love for them to be a couple, I think Yibo was interested and/or attracted to Xiao Zhan, but Xiao Zhan was not in the same boat. At least not the same level of interest or attraction. If something did happen it probably ended due to their career aspirations & culture.
