I have a 1985 two-door Cherokee XJ with a 2.5 L in-line four-cylinder engine. It has a five speed manual transmission. I’m looking for suggestions on a lift kit for a daily driver. I want to be able to drive out to Moab and do some of the easier trails and then drive home. What do you suggest on Johnn kit and tire size?
@@DirkSanders-wh8vv I appreciate it! I love your how to videos. You cleared up so many questions for me. I’m definitely going with DPG! Can you get the core 4x4 parts in different colors as well?
Just spoke to 4wheelparts today. I’m looking for a suspension for my 98 xj and they recommended a 3 in kit I’m on 31 with the cut and fold. But now I’m wondering if I messed up
😇 I'm not sure why, but I'm more reluctant to cut into my rust-free '94 2-door XJ than any 4X4 I've ever owned! I honestly wish I could just get over it. I'd love to be Rollin on 40's again! I'm currently on 32s with factory flares. I think the only reason I bought it and overpaid for it was because it is a "survivor"? I could easily fit 33's, but the 😈 side of me wants to go big!
I love these garvin racks i like the sport series the off-road seems a little too tall and is unnecessary to have the height in my opinion. I have this rack from dpg and love it. I actually have a smaller Garvin sport rack that doesn't cover the whole roof like this i replaced it with this one and my old Garvin sport rack went on my wifes cherokee. I hate gross looking rusty crap and my original Garvin rack is over 10 years old and been outside a lot and all over the place the only corrosion has been with some of the hardware. They use a black coating on all their bolts that is actually pretty tough but when it wears off the threads or gets chipped from tools the corrosion can start. I replaced many bolts with stainless recently i think they should use stainless but their black coating does work quite well. Im seriously impressed at how well their powder coat has held up in the sun and rain and everything over the years especially on my oldest rack. I especially love my dpg garvin rack. These things are solid. I swear i only paid like 300 dollars for my original garvin rack that goes for 900 something dollars now last i looked but i believe its worth the money because the quality is there nobody likes rattly crusty racks.
Hi great video by the way, just a coloured information I have been looking for so thanks for that, I have a 97 XJ. I want it to have a more Grece Evey stance, I have looked at several options from Davies Autosport which commonly use a 3 inch old man emu lift kit with 265/70/16 TYRES, this is the look I really want to create do not wish to trim fenderwells, my local garage have said they would prefer to use 2 inch lift due to the angles which you have mentioned before in the video, my question is do you think that a 2 inch lift will be enough to give me the look but I want, I want the TYRES to just a tiny bit wider than the fenders, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance Chris.
I think this is the best way out of all other ways to trim your fenders. Sadly - I dont have painted fenders and wonder how it would look with unpainted fenders. Hmmm...wish there was a video out there that did what you did but with factory unpainted fenders on my Willys. Looking in your website gallery at customer rigs - I wish you had one in there that wasn't painted to see it. can you send me a picture of one thats not painted so I can see the result before I perform this cut? Thanks for your time.
I don't think I have any pics of unpainted flares, but I can tell you they look fine. If this doesn't booger up a painted flare, it definitely won't hurt an unpainted one!
Skip to 26:00 mark. This dude will not shut up. His got a lot of examples of BS. Typical old white guy wanting to over explain and flex his knowledge. Welcome to 2023 get to the point Old man and get to it fast
Great video. I can't believe I just sat thru an hour long video. I'll definitely be ordering a kit. I want my xj to look exactly like the silver one. So sweet!
I just bought a 2000 XJ Sport. Its all stock. I am stuck between a 2.5 inch or 3 inch. I don't plan on off roading it a lot at all, but I want it to be capable of going there if I need it. Is there a big difference in basic dailey driving if I install a lift?
