(3:36)The Stratford Road Baptist Church, where my parents got married and also where me, my brother & sisters attended church services in the later decades between 1978 and 1982.😀
I was born in Birmingham and remember my earliest years as a toddler, living at Gladstone Road, Sparkbrook. That Sparkbrook Community Centre brought back memories (3:13). My parents and friends used this place as a base for the BCA organisation before moving on to Jenkin Street in Smallheath. Thanks for sharing👍🏾
The rear of dear man road used to be a huge car park it now has houses And sale onslow has been completely demolished it hurt me so much when they did that and especially hurt me when they demolished the church and the sparkbrook family centre it was painful
Whole of Birmingham and west midlands is a racist segregated shithole everyone is unhappy , bigoted and choose to be segregated the place is a hellhole.
My father was Capper Haddleton, a Warwick Arms regular, he helped to organise and raise money for the locals kids to have a day out at the seaside( many of them had never seen the sea). He also organised Christmas party for the kids, each getting a gift with their name on it from Father Christmas. For the old folk a Christmas Dinner with some of the local Teddy Boys in white shirt and black bow tie waiting on tables.
Birmingham has a lot of racism and biggest segregated city in the UK no integration at all full of backwards people areas are dumps and segregated white areas and Asian areas mainly .
No sign of Sampson road and the park or Kendal road I remember the black horse pub on Stratford road bottom of braithwaite road and the Friday shop at the bottom of braithwaite road
Don't be so deluded Birmingham has always been rough and poor and run down place the people are lost who live there nothing in Birmingham a city full of cuts and austerity.
Hi, i came across this video by chance and it brought back many happy memories of my time visiting my aunt who lived at 34 Hickman rd. Back in 1963 when i was 5 years old we stayed for a few months and i had to attend the local school on Grace rd. My aunt passed away in 1995 and i have not been since as i live in Sheffield, thanks for bringing back such happy memories.
used to play around here as a kid in the 1950's but look at it now !. Ive been lucky enough to visit India and Pakistan on several trekking holidays, and its just as if i am transported back there now, the only thing missing are sacred cows wondering freely on the stratford road....but given time i'm sure that will happen. What an absolute GROT hole of a place now, so pleased we had to move.
So were the places you visited on holiday grotholes too? Actually if you walk a few yards in from the main roads the houses look exactly as they used to except you will find kids playing cricket and riding bike, instead of the games they used to play in the past. If you really understood anything about the places you visited then you would realise that sacred cows are not a feature for the people who live on and around the Stratford Road. There are other surprising things to learn too, like some of the best cakes in the city are made and sold from shops on that self same road.
Im pakistani grew up in sparkbrook but now live in mosely village. I have to admit pakistani parking and traffic pisses me off to a point where im always on road rage. Hate going through these pakistani areas!
Interesting how.. Even during the aging Victorian back to back slums got by the 60's. Things didn't get better with time but much worse.! At least the streets and gutters were still cleaned and maintained, even in those poorer areas.., back then!
the native English moved out gradually through racist views starting in the 50's in areas like sparkbrook if they had stayed put this area would not be predominantly ethnic it's not that migrants didn't want to integrate ut was the actual native English
+Ben Sims it's all documented pal ,on documentaries and archive footage on news reals of the 50's 60's my little friend , not only that ,were have the natives in those areas gone ???? derrr my simpleton fellow human ,WHY IS THERE NO NATIVE STILL IN THOSE AREAS ??? COMPRENDAY😎😉
+Ben Sims not only that people who migrated to England in 50' 60's first hand testimony tut tut YOU KNOW NOTHING AND THAT IS DANGEROUS AND FOOLISH AND IGNORANT ,KAPPISSH
+Ben Sims who told the native to move out YA MUPPET 😂😂 IF YA STAYED PUT IT WOULD NOT BE A MAJORITY ETHNIC AREA ,INSTEAD A GOOD MIX AND THERE STILL WOULD BE WHITE NATIVE SHOPS TO CATER FOR THE NEEDS OF NATIVES , ITS CALLED SUPPLY AND DEMAND 😉
@ Muslims were attacked when originally coming into areas like sparkbrook and that it's a not majority white you complain. You also speak about why would you go to a country like Pakistan it's true because if the British didn't attack every country out their this wouldn't have happened.
@@albertofacchinetti5365 I prefer it no racist white people, the only white people are the people we love they mix with Muslims and are not seen as outcasts.
Music locate yes, but there are still racist black ppl who hate the Muslims and Pakistanis, remember the 2005 riots? Anyway, the poor ppl are not racist, only the rich ppl. Regardless of colour any one can be rich, anyone can be poor. That is the main divide, there are poor areas, there are posh areas. The poor ppl vote labour, the rich ppl vote Tory. It’s not white vs black, it’s not black vs asians, it’s rich vs poor. Always has been. And ppl think that white ppl are automatically rich, if u go to Liverpool or Manchester or Birmingham you’ll realise that’s not true at all, Birmingham has ALWAYS been a complete DUMP. But bcuz it’s a dump is why I love it there 😂
I was born in this area and remember when the first 'coloured men' came to live here, then after the so-called 'slum clearances' of the mid to late 60's when everyone was packed off to tower blocks at Chelsmley Wood the rot set in - and then it got worse. Now it is a Pakistani enclave. When I was there in the late 50's early 60's there were hardly any Pakistanis but now it has done a complete 360...there's hardly any white people there now. It should never have been allowed to happen (imho).
I hope you're still alive to read this, Felix. Nevertheless, I have to say I agree with you; even though, I myself am a descendent of one of those 'coloured men' you speak of. I agree with you on the basis that every man deserves to have somewhere to call their own, without the threat of that being taken away from them; not then, not now, not ever. Unfortunately for us 'coloured men', our country got invaded a long time ago; thanks to colonialism. Now all of us suffer!
You have to realise when Pakistan, Somalia and Arab people first came over they were thrown rocks at and had all the racism shot at them and now that sparkbrook isn't majority white what do you think they would do ? It's honestly white people's fault for attacking people based on culture and then them people who were attacked spoke to their kids about it too.
Hi buddy what are your thoughts on the non coloured people who killed aborigines and.took over Australia or how about your thoughts on the non coloured people who systematically eradicated the native American Indians and stole their land or wait for it your favourite what are your thoughts on uk occupying a foreign soverign country and stealing they wealth
