Awesome explanation! The only problem that I have is finding information about the pry stroke. It's not a stroke I've heard before (being a non-native speaker) and searching for it doesn't give good results, at least not for whitewater kayaking.
Thanks for the kind words and for checking out the video. For the pet stroke, thinkmofnitnas a reverse sweep with your front hand higher than usual. You are then pushing the back of the blade down and then once it sinks start pushing it away from the boat. I hope that helps.
Thanks for checking out the video. Based on the specs it should do. There is sometimes a variance in the measurement guide but I think it should be OK.
Is the material on the Odin the same as on the Emperor? I prefer the front zip but know that the Emperor has the additional cordura reinforcement that I have come to favor on my snow ski clothing. If the breathability is the same I would probably save the $s and buy the Odin.
Thanks for the question and for checking out the video. The Emperor is for sure the beefuest suit that level six makes. I would at that the Odin is for sure a durable and heavy duty feeling suit. It just doesn't have the same reinforcement the Emperor has.
Realistically the Emperor would be the choice if you are really beating up on the suit. Lots of bushwhacking, hard portages etc. Anything short of that I think the Odin is great.
I am 5'10" and weigh 220lbs & have a long "athletic" torso but short athletic legs with a 30" inseam. When I sit in a typical airplane seat my head is normally the same height as a typical 6'2" guy. I am currently trying to decide which size to order. I think I would need an XL but have concerns the legs will be too long. Would appreciate sizing guidance & if AQ accepts returns if the fit isn't right? I am located in North Carolina. Note: I have a XXL Baffin semi-wet top that is a bit large on me but not huge which has me leary of how tight a Large might be.
Thanks again for checking out this video and for the questions.. I think that XL would be the way to go. You are right.. you will have some extra material in the legs but I think it will be better than not enough in the upper body in the large. We for sure accept returns.. thanks and please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thanks for checking the video and the question. It is pretty standard as far as flotation goes for roll setups. Not as good as a foam core but as good as any other laminate fibreglass or carbon paddles.
There are lots of places online and and stores across North America and the world. If you are in Canada or the USA you can purchase many of them on our website at www aqoutdoors.com
100% agree on your comments pertaining to pedal drive kayakers. I have an Old Town 120 PDL and the Chinook backing is frustrating with the high kayak seat! Don't get me wrong Chinook is a great PFD, but I'll be getting the Raku next strictly for the backside benefit.
I surf on city wave with a 4'10 foamie, would like to transition to libtech, thinking of getting the 5'2 whirlpool or 5'2 puddle jumper, wich one would you recommend? I am 5'8 150 lbs
That is great to hear. Can you confirm where city wave is and what type of wave it is? Is it one of the waves at Harvie Passage in Calgary or elsewhere? If elsewhere the more info the better and video of the wave would be better still. Cheers and we look forward to your reply
It depends on the model a bit but any PVC boat is easy to dry. Just deflate it and put outside our of direct sunlight.. packing is pretty straight forwards. Some of the bags (depending on brand) can be a bit tight but for the most part you deflate them, roll them and put them in the carry bag.
Absolutely love my Indra, as well as the customer service at AQ. Big shout-out to Sam! This boat is unbelievably comfortable and confidence inspiring. It blasts over everything with speed and poise. Feels amazing!
Thanks for the observation.. we will for sure work at exaggerating that better in the future. It is more a teaching point we encourage people to strive for as a reference.. Cheers for the insight!

One thing that I have been disapointed about with my NRS Axiom Goretex DS is that the neck gasket is a lot looser than the one on my previous (Kokatat) DS. Both gaskets are labelled as being size Large but the NRS one is both bigger in circumfernce and is made of thinner latex. Both of these factors contribute to it being too leaky after only 30 uses. In terms of my size I'm 185 cm tall and weigh 83 kg so I'm not lightweight or skinny (my neck circumference is 37 cm). For comparison, my Kokatat DS lasted a lot longer and I only had to replace the neck gasket after 3 years (about 160 uses). I'll definitely be replacing the gaskets with Kokatat ones, which, AFAIK, will fit OK onto this suit (I hope!). The wrist gaskets have also been less waterproof and I also tore one taking it off. I have never torn a Kokatat gasket and I think some of the reason is that, as with the neck gaskets, NRS ones are made of thinner latex.
Thanks for the insight on this. On my original suit (the one reviewed in this video) I would agree. I just got a new one and they are now using much thicker gaskets and the punch through neoprene neck is much heftier to. I think those changes will dramatically improve suits from 2024 and onwards.
Very much a first impressions video for sure. We had just received the sample and wanted to give some specs etc. We will follow up with more annecdotal info once we have a chance to put it through its paces.. thanks for keeping us accountable..
Inflatables is the future. I own the expedition 85 and I freaking love it. I can't stop telling people how good they are and the market is shifting to inflatable fishing kayaks since more people can own them. If ou need anyone to test some things you can hit me up I would be glad to give you my input i have a laundry list of things that would be beneficial for newer iterations. Avid youtuber fisherman here.
My best guess is the the Medium Large. I am a little taller and about the same weight and have a bunch of adjustability left in that size so it should be good for you.
Great looking PFD. Nice review. I love the simple central pocket and hand warmer pocket. How much does it weight? Can you weight it? As a packraft user I am really concerned with weight because I have to carry this around while backcountry hiking. Also, is the back foam considered low profile? Will it work ok with various seating styles, including back bands you might find on pack rafts. I am comparing this to the Astral YTV 2.0 Thanks!
@@AQOutdoors Thank you! That definitely helps me make a decision. It's a little heavier than I thought, but still really good comparatively. (The Astral is 590 grams.)
you DO NOT need a boat adaptor to fit a Kayak to the MOS Uplift unless it is a composite laminated type, the removable rubber sleeves included with the integrated J bars on the MOS Uplift works just fine to tie plastic boats to for transport
Have you had a chance to see the NRS Odyssey? I’m wondering since the pockets are more narrow upfront if they feel a little bit more comfortable than the clamshell pockets on the Zander.
Do you feel this is more comfortable than the Raku? First timer for kayak fishing. Female age 60 and looking for comfort and safety. I worry that high back pfd’s will push my neck forward. Any thoughts? Also is it coast guard approved?
Thanks for the question and for checking out the video. My initial thoughts are that the Zander is more comfy than the Raku. The form fit foam and graduated sizing makes the new lineup feel so much lighter and more wearable. It is coast guard approved. This is to be fair from limited use so far so please just take these as first thoughts.
@@JourneymanCoup The NRS Swig hydration system should be available in a few weeks. UL was working with NRS on the approval. They do not recommend using anything other than SWIG hydration system on the designated attachment points. Other than that it has the usual suspect attachment points
Thanks for checking out the video. With a skirt like the back you typically don't have to pull forwards to release the skirt as it isn't designed to be a super tight fit. That is a good catch though, many of the rand skirts particularly will require you to pull forwards a little to release the skirt.
Thanks for the catch. We had originally planned to do dolomite and then pivoted to Puzzle. We completely missed the mistake in our multiple draft edits.. haha.. thanks for checking out the video and keeping us honest.. haha
We can paddle year round on the dam released Kananaskis River, however it takes a pretty hardy soul to paddle year round. Most people paddle from April to October or thereabouts
@@simoncoward5955 If u wanna visit Nova Scotia and paddle some river, ur are more then welcome to let me know bro, I got all the useful resources u need, we got some good river down here
Thanks for the question. It does depend somewhat on the paddler height and blade shape but I would say for myself at 173cm (5' 9") with a regular low angle style blade I would use a 230 or 240 paddle.
Vielen Dank, dass Sie sich unser Video angesehen haben. Es ist ein tolles Paddel! (Wir haben geschummelt und für diese Antwort Google Translate verwendet :-)
It looks like NRS paid a lot more attention to detail on their new line-up...it looks like they still have the shoulder strap buckles too close to where the boat sits on your shoulder though. Does the padding got far enough under the buckles so they don't get pushed into your collar bone like the Zen, Simon? Looks like a great playboat / park option.
So far the varying is comfy. I haven't done any long carries but a slalom boat and heavy rec boat and no issues with the buckles.. super good playboat or river running option.
