Pro tips for driving in Italy… 1. Never put your phone down. And remember, texting while driving is a skill that needs to be practiced. 2. Drive as fast and reckless as possible. When you see pedestrians or bicyclists on the road, don’t slow down. Try to see how dangerously close you can get without hitting them. Especially at crosswalks. The same rule applies to driving near motorcyclists on the autostrada. 3. When entering a roadway or intersection, never look in the direction of the oncoming traffic. Only look in the direction that you want to drive. If there’s traffic, block the oncoming cars and wait until there is an opening in the lane you need. And of course, never use your indicators. 4. Ignore all speed limits and stop signs. When at a traffic light, honk your horn as soon as the light turns green. Don’t be shy, horns are made for honking. 5. Parking. Make sure that when double parking you block as much traffic as possible. 6. If the car or motorcyclist in front of you is not going as fast as you want, be sure to tailgate at least a half meter from their bumper. Don’t forget to dangerously pass whenever possible, even on blind corners.
Another tip, like many other European countries diesel cars are extremely common in Italy. As such, every pump has diesel fuel and your rental may itself run on diesel. Always remember that if your car is gasoline powered it will have green plastic in and around the fueling hole and you'll need to ask for "benzina" at the pump. If it's diesel powered it will have black plastic around the fueling hole and you'll need to ask for "gasolio" or simply for "diesel fuel"
In Ireland you can drive from the age of 17. Providing you pass your test. Nice video clip great to see a DeLorean as it was built on the island of Ireland.
Don’t take the train or bus, if you have at least 4-6 Guests, you can save money on tours, they pick you up at the terminal, walk to all the tourist spots then taxi to the Vatican after Vatican they will take you back to the port. We are doing it again in May. I want to make sure we see everything and make it on the ship on time.
So far the 2024 Civitavecchia Express is still not available on Port Mobility's website. Also it didn't say the 6 euro bus fare is included either, even in its 2023 description.
I really appreciate your guided directions on how to get to Tivoli from Rome. When people post day trips to different places, but they neglect to include the details on how to get there. Thanks to you; I plan to visit both Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa.
Great video - so many cruisers assume that Rome is a stones-throw away from the cruise port, which just isn't the reality. Yes, it's possible to see Rome from a cruise, but you really won't see much. By the time we got into the Vatican, it was time to think about heading back to the ship - better than nothing, I guess...!!
