I just watched that summer time jerkbait pattern on Randy Blaukat’s channel and he claimed you needed to work them fast so they only remain a foot or su underwater. I’m thinking after watching this that’s a myth too. Be interesting to see on here.
Great info man but I think the weight transfer baits are different than the old rogues or Rapala baits. I think the baits with out a weight transfer system do require a reel down first. Can't wait til next video dave!
Come on, if you jerkbait fish you catch them all the time on the outside of the face. There is always a lag in ffs. If you feel a bite whether it’s in a foot of water or 20 ft. Of water you set the hook. Maybe it comes down to each anglers own ethics. My own opinion is if you are seeing a fish with your own eyes it has to be in the mouth, otherwise there’s to much gray area.
Very informative video David. I look forward to your future presentations. I have no confidence in a jerk bait. At least I know to begin the jerk process immediately. Thank you for making time to provide this helpful information.
This could get crazy I don't have FFS "yet" but I do have side scan and if I see a fish on side scan and I throw a a buoy then cast to it and snag it is it illegal catch
Great Video!!!!! Information I can actually use. You get big props for providing something of value.... Not garbage that is a waste of time...Thank you David!!!
Great vid. Honestly I don’t even mess with the variants. I have three colors. Watermelon, green pumpkin, or junebug. And if the water is a tad dingy I will use a little chartreuse pen on the tail of either the watermelon or green pumpkin.
Forward facing sonar has taken away "true fishing" because it's about catching instead of learning the sport. Years of learning the " sweet spots " and pattern fishing structure and topography has been eliminated. There are no secrets to unlock, just what lure to throw. Sad for all of the anglers that have paid their dues and lived for the sport of fishing. This new crowd of "so called" anglers would be a "flash in the pan" without FFS. Bring back the real bass pros and save tournament fishing from those taking a short cut. They are dumbing down the industry through "technology" !
SHEW! OK Randy 2.0. Let's address your "Natural Instinct". If these kids JUST relied on FFS and NOT the 300 days a year they are putting on the water over the course of 6-10 years (OR MORE) then why aren't you winning? YOU have both "natural instinct" and FFS! Why are YOU NOT finding those same bass? YOU a pro with every opportunity to fish, who don't have to show up to classes and do homework over the past 6-10 years should have PLENTY OF TIME to learn the same thing these "KIDS" have learned. In College these kids are fishing the same lakes that FLW, BASS, and MLF and repeatedly returned to. So you long time "pro's" don't have the same advantages you've had over the Rookies in the past... You know the history on those same old lakes you keep going to over and over again. Well they do too now.
I think the technology is great yet don't believe it should be used in a tournament setting. Just like an umbrella rig just like snagging a fish. These are basic rules that should apply. That's just my opinion.
There are some young hammers for sure! I think it's because of the internet and the info available is just insane. They have the ability to learn about a technique or body of water and leave the house! The kids who have the mechanical skill will just blow away those who don't with that same information. I say 70% technology and 30% on the water or experience fishing
The information available to all anglers and how the youth have embraced the new technology. The internet, the fwd facing sonar high school and college fishing all plays a part. Give the younger anglers credit, they take risk, dont follow the pack and are not locked on so many now bogus proven facts older anglers believed in far too long. 100 percent just over all hungrier to perform than the older anglers. Im in my 50s and thats my beliefs. Take Care
Agree 100%, they’re hungrier then most. These young anglers go from one tournament trail to another every week. Time on the the water is what it’s all about. I’m 62 and I have ffs too.
I'm old school so I'm for no forward facing sonar period! A pro fisherman should be knowledgeable, instinctive, and skilled to find and catch the bass.
That's a great compromise. It's what I've been hoping for. I think it should not be allowed in high level bass tounaments at all, but I could live with half and half, or something like that. It would make it more interesting too.
random draw over social media after the schedule is released. That way it can't be said that it is fixed. Have 3 tournaments be with livescope. That is about a 1/3 of the season.
I say let's see what can be done with these jighead minnow techniques without having FFS...after all it really isn't a new technique...Smallmouth anglers have been fishing jigheads and soft plastics as far back as the Mann's Stingray grub...then Kalin and Action Plastics, Lunker City Fin S fish.....and other knockoffs....Not to mention a jighead and 3-4" grub was always a go to in the Northeast on heavily pressured waters when the bite was off or severe cold front conditions for both LM and SM.....
Wow all you vets of pro fishing better pray to god the young guns don't beat you guys in the tournaments without forward facing because if they do you all are going to be laughed out of the industry it will be the biggest fafo in history!
