This is my channel for guitar and oud lessons. Most of my lessons are on Middle Eastern music, but I also do a lot on western music, theory, and other World music styles.
Posted 5 months ago?? How on earth did I miss the Ali Farka toure guitar lesson for this long? Seriously! You played perfect. I can't thank you more. Be blessed. Please give me an advice, lately, I am able to play every melody in pentatonic scale over the entire fretboard, but most musicians including Ali prefer playing with chord rather than the solo style i play. What should i do, I am very good on barree chords and mostly incorporate for rhythmic effect yet I sound bad. I can instantly play every melody but doesnt taste good. What is with me? Do i need to stop acoustic and play electric guitar only?
Thank you, glad you like it:) are you saying you have trouble playing melody and accompaniment at the same time on guitar? I do have a video on that. But also, have you played any classical pieces? Try learning a bunch of those and that will give you ideas about how you can do this.
Turkish is a bit smaller and less bulgy. If you just bought an oud without it being specified it's probably Arab. On Arab the highest string is C, on oud it's D.
Microtones don't work well with chords. I mean if you wanted to build triads out of the saba scale you could. It's just not done much cause it doesn't sound good. If you really want to play chords over microtonal scales it's better to just build the chords that don't include the microtones.
glad you like it. The original of this is all western brass instruments so there's no quarter tones, but I do explain a lot of that stuff in my oud videos.
Not related to the video. Just wanted to say your videos are really cool and useful (ive got family from the balkans, so its great to "reconnect" to the music. Getting the hang of non-standard rythms thanks to you.
I was in Turkey for 3 years i always search for some one there who knows desert music but no body knows 😅 you are doing great bto thx from libya . The best guitar lesson
thank you=) I don't think many people in Turkey know this music. It's pretty different from Turkish music, I only learned it from listening to Tinariwen etc.
@MuratKMusic I'm preparing for the recording of a soundrack for a video game set in medieval Iran. I'm glad I found your channel :) I'm just listening to your track 'Invasion', I'm amazed with the depth... I like dark guitar like this, right from when I first heard Koyunbaba.
@@MuratKMusic That would be way too cool sir :) will think about it when I receive the testing version of the game and contact you if I need some help :)
You did not get the Arabic tone well. You need to move your finger a little. It is lower than the Western note by a quarter. I mean: a distance - three-quarters of a distance - three-quarters of a distance, then as in the Western scale. Good luck
Hey Murat awesome Oud right so I’ve got a question I’ve never played stringed instruments before but I’m hooked on the Oud right now and that’s the only thing on my mind when it comes to stringed instruments. The Oud I’m getting is a Turkish one what tips would you give to complete noobs like me who plan on learning the Oud also I’m in contact with a Turkish Oud teacher yeah I guess that’s my 😶 thanks 🙏🏿 PS that Oud seems expensive or it might be a vintage Turkish Oud from the sound of it so it must be expensive right the price must’ve been insane 😅 sorry
@@NerdGlassGamingPA yes but I wanna play the Oud first then baglama like I defo wanna play the baglama some day it’s on one of my lists of instruments learning the Oud will help me grasp uh knowledge on maqams which will be useful for learning the baglama

Mine is good, wasn't really expensive though. I don't remember the exact price but pretty sure it was under 1k. Maybe order from Sela Muzik in Turkey? They're reliable. You can get something pretty good for less than 1k, just don't go below 3-400. And let me know if the other teacher doesn't work out=)
