Welcome to the Gentleman's Journey. Come along my journey to be a better gentleman. We talk a lot about men's boots and other guy related things. Catch ya in the next video.
It took me about three months to break them in, it hurted like hell (my feet where bleeding, still have some bloodstains inside). But after three months And taking out the insole(1907) everything changed And I became the best walking choose I ever had. It took some time, but it was wearth it.
I have the S&W 609 and the AD-10. the 609 is pretty tough. Good frame lock. Bash and trash that one first and foremost... Keep that AD-10 nice and pretty!
Obenaufs LP is a great product. Ive always preheated the leather with a heat gun to open the pours then apply. The only thing i can say you didn't mention is always give the stitching some live as well. Just found this channel and you have a new subscriber. Take care brother.
I had the soles fall apart on two pairs of boots. My Rocky boots were worn one time and my Dunham hiking boots were worn for two hunting seasons. Both crumbled and turned into a sticky mess. 😢👎
Unfortunately not this time. I'll try to work one in my next boot video. Have a briefcase video coming up, no adventure on that. Kinda tough without my dog, but I'll get back on the horse eventually. Cheers
They do not give leather bomb with all boots I bought the c h i s o s number five with the nip toe I understand it's a rough cut leather but they did not send no extras I am going to order a number two magic black with the square toe and out of the 30 pair of boots I have bought I pay full price unless they offer a little of a discount😊😊😊
@@GentlemansJourney no but I'm going to I like that magic Black Box toe I think it's the number two the only thing I wish they could do would make it 12 or 13 in the calf but the boots I did buy the number five I do enjoy them very much thank you for your reply peace be with you
Hey thanks for watching and yes, took a break. largely around work scheduling and losing my dog. Should have some great stuff coming out each week for the next few weeks. Cheers.
I have not been able to get that done. Good catch on the timing. I'll put that on the to do. I love mine, super useful and practical for my playing in rivers and such. Cheers for watching.
Hell no hanks belt with the forever B.S garentee wait bud mine stretched and sagged after a year. At that point I got pissed learned leather work and made my own belts. If you carry a gun on a hanks it will fail.
You've transformed your suede/rough-out boots into waxed suede boots. That's fine if you want a waxed suede boot but if you want to retain the original suede finish you shouldn't add the mink oil to the outside of the boot. Normally you don't need to condition suede but if they really do need it then, if the boot is unlined, you can add mink oil to the inside of the boot at the risk of getting some on your socks the first few times you wear them again. Otherwise you can get spray conditioner for suede from Saphir though it's not a heavy duty conditioner If you want to make suede water resistant then the waterproofing sprays work well. The best I've used is Tarrago nano protector but there are many others that also work quite well and are a bit cheaper. These sprays also make it harder for dirt to stick to the suede and therefore make the suede shampoo more effective when you come to clean it.
Thanks for the thoughts on this. I'm kind a indifferent about the results as I do beat the crap out of these but if I wanted to keep the original look, I'd not be thrilled. I'll check out the Tarrago Nano! Cheers Brother
I recommend washing your boots 2-3 times with saddle soap, let them dry completely then put 1-2 coats of the oil waiting 24 hours inbetween coats, then only one coat of the wax. After 8 hours of applying the wax you will be able to tell if you applied too much wax. If toi much just rub the wax to heat it up then us a towel or rag to wipe off the excess.
Very cool Video; I enjoyed your Video and presentation. Check this out; the AD10 Series is one of my all-time favorites: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C9yhCTDxxto.html :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
I know you've talked about cedar boot trees in the past, but what do you recommend for 8 to 10 inch tall boots that are built on the 55 last? Most of the ones i see are meant for boots with a lower arch.
Appreciate your insight on these as I just ordered a pair of these along with some Falcons. Also much respect for your message at the end. Great message of faith, Gratitude, and thanks.
I'm not sure if I've got a dodgy batch of Fiebing's edge dressing or not, but I've now applied 12 coats of black to my heel stack at it is NOT covering at all. The worst product of its kind I've ever used. I'd avoid it like the plague.
Great video, thank you. I bought my iron rangers last month. Love them and love the look of the raw leather. I am confused on whether the boots need that cream on top because the colour definitely changes. It becomes nice and rich and dark. But does that close the pores of the leather and stop the breathing and then lead to cracks? I looked up the ’AI’ response for it and it said just dust and clean them, no need for a wax or cream to close the pores. Would love to know the thoughts.
Yeah, you are right, you are not going to wear out the soles of those boots anytime soon. You are strolling on a gentle trail, not actually hiking through wilderness.
I have two pairs of franks as well as a couple of pairs from their competitors. All are high quality but I felt franks went above and beyond with costumer service and their product is excellent.
Love my Jim Green boots. Three pair of African Rangers, two are barefoot and one pair is from the custom shop. I just ordered a pair of custom AR8's. Their custom shop is AWESOME. Cheers from Wakulla county.
Really either! The leather cream is a great default but the Venetian is a solid choice. The Venetian would be a bit more glossy and have a bit of a harder outer layer that helps with weather but may take it a shade darker. 🥾🥾
@@sjs1555 “ideology- a system of ideas and ideals.” You aren’t the holder of objective truth, dumdum. You’re out here guessing, just as much as anyone else is.
Hi, I live in South Africa. I have three pairs of Jim Green shoes. The RazorBack, the Shoelie, and the African Ranger Barefoot. The Numzaan is on my list of boots I still want to purchase. The shoes (esp. the RazorBacks) takes a while to break in, but boy once they are broken in, they are so comfortable. Love mine. P.S. The African Ranger Barefoot is really comfortable in Summer, just get the leather in-soles as well and they are super comfy. The Numzaan is more of a "fancy" (town) boot. The Boabab is said to be a great hiking boot.
