I cant believe this is on RU-vid. I watched it on tv when i was in high school. I was telling someone the other day about this game and how it ended and they didnt believe me.
Yes last 100 means the race is wind aided, I knew a man that ran a 46.3 with an asterisks in Illinois, he ran in 20 MPh gusts and they robbed him of that time, the state record.
jandermac I always would always like to say this thank you Jeff Anderson for taking the time to put together one of the best years of my life and allowing me to show my children the joy that high school sports can bring into their life
Website called Arizona Football Archives. It has has every score of every high school team in Arizona including Coronado.Great site and on it quite a bit... Shadow Mountain 83'. 8:59

Hey who are you Reb? I played about 5 plays for the Wolves that game. We ended up 5-5 that year. I was a Sr. Knew some of those Coronado guys too from FCA as well as their head coach Anderson.
I was at Ricks at the time. My brother, Tony McGeary, played 82 and 83. Why didn't the coach just let the QB take the hike and run for 4 seconds? Why risk a punt? I'm I missing something? Tony recently coached in Utah at Lone Peak and is now head coach for Provo.
I was the long snapper on this play for Ricks , if you noticed both guards were two to three feet away from me , I hadn`t noticed at the time , all I was thinking about was getting the snap to Hogan, if they would have been tighter I don`t think they would have gotten through so easily, but you are right we should have never had to snap the ball again. Just a side note our center was Gary Andersen , now head coach at Wisconsin. And Jason Buck who won a Super Bowl with Wash was also on this team.
You're welcome Ken! So glad you found it. I was hoping guys from the Coronado team would eventually find this and be able to share it with their families.
Wow! Blast from the past. This is Ken Lewis middle linebacker. Had a wild hair and googled Coronado Dons and 1976. THANK YOU for putting this together. My son just got a offered to play football at Drake and now I can share this moment with him. Great group of guys and fantastic coaches. It's been such a long time, but I remember much of it like it was yesterday.
Dead ball foul after the play. Definitely 4th down. I was at the game because my dad was the head football coach for phx college. He has recently passed away and my family was looking at old clips of him. This win was probably the highlight of his coaching career. Rick's vs PC was always a great rivalry at least when my dad was still coaching. Hope all is well with everybody associated with this great game. WHAT A FINISH!!!
They actually called a facemask penalty on our receiver who was behind the quarterback, matched us back to the 3 yard line and told us that we needed to snap the ball
You know how much effort it takes to drop your time just by a millisecond? In sprints for track 3 seconds is alot, and there would be a sizable distance between it. Reason why Micheal Johnson's record is still untouchable to this day. Only possible person who could break it is Kirani James for Grenada
how is its possible for 1 place to finish a 400 meter race in 46.84 seconds thats 3 seconds away from the male world record and its faster than the female world record
I played in this game for the Wolves. I was # 38 at Strong Safety (Wolfman) but I didn't remember the date. Our coach was Coach Foster and asst: Coach Wall. I believe we finished the season at 7-3-0 in 1976. I'm now 55 yrs. old. I had joined the U.S.Army 3 years after this game was played. I now live in Texas....Damn! Time flies
