I'm a contractor and towing with it practically daily. But relatively low mileage, I think I'm at like 120,000. That said, I still get people thinking it's new. Hard to believe it's been 13 years.
I miss my 4th gen, I sold it to buy a 3rd gen (and to pay off my note that I got tired of dealing with) and I wish I was able to delete it when I had it
I do. I'm a contractor and put it to work towing constantly. I don't do too many miles though it's mostly local short trips hauling to dumps and jobs, I only recently passed 100,000 miles.
My experience with tuning the VGT to stay wide open is that it performs and sounds better with at least a little vgt tuning vs tuned wide open at all times. That is only editing the VGT tuning on standard H&S tunes though, so perhaps tuning other parameters the turbo would work better.
It's there. Clean it. Use a Lincoln 5803 needle and Lithium Grease! Jack up One front wheel and rotate the shaft until you can see it. It's not easy, but it IS there. Do it Every oil change.
This is such a nice truck, do you still have it? Seems like the ideal truck for work but how is it backing up a trailer compared to an auto? Is it geared low enough that you can crawl by just letting out the clutch?
Yeah I still have it, @ about 96,000 miles now. Backing up is fine, but reverse is not as low as it should be in my opinion. You don't need throttle, but it's too fast so you have to ride the clutch. I think idle in reverse is about 5-6 mph, which is ok in some situations but reverse in 4 low is perfect so you don't have to ride the clutch. Also really good for backing up heavy trailers up hill. I WISH so much that it was possible to mod and make 4 low usable without the front engaged like the older trucks.
@@iBurnDiesel Thanks, that's more or less exactly what I wanted to know. Why does it make a big difference to be able to back up without the front end engaged? There's a 2WD G56 that just came up for sale in my city, might go test drive it.
Amazing truck. Funny how it has these combination of features because its a "work truck" but they make this a very cool and fun truck. Definitely catches your attention if you're a truck enthusiast.
I've had the stock exhaust on for the past 2 years :( Smog check :( Just had it done again, maybe I'll put the straight pipe back on for the next 2 years. I do miss the sound
