openigloo is a mobile application that allows tenants to anonymously share rental experiences and access real-time city data about their buildings and landlords, such as violation data, eviction history, bedbug complaints, and more.

It’s not only which is cheaper but which you can afford.I’m sure one that spend millions on living quarters is not very worried about upkeep. Where folks that spend their last nickel purchasing a home have to 🙏 no major repair are needed very soon.
I find it funny that the people that are constantly complaining about the laws and regulations in New York State and New York City are the ones that are constantly voting for the same people that keep making these laws and regulations. Isn't that called insanity or is it just stupid?
Of course... the problem has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that you keep electing the same kind of people over and over again... people who do everything in their power to discourage MORE construction and MORE employment. No.... it can't have anything to do with THAT. /sarc Useful idiots abound.
I am a native New York. The problem is greed. In so far as politicians are concerned it is allowing this greed, which both parties have allowed. There IS NOT A SHORTAGE of housing. The problem is, available housing is being snatched up by investors, many times as a tax dodge or whatever. It sits vacant. This is what happened to a significant portion of Manhattan real estate. People got pushed to the outer boroughs. Then rents were driven up by more investors in the outer boroughs. FYI as someone who actually lives here, there is plenty of construction going on. But their idea of affordability is 3,000 a month.
So the broker is the person selling the property. So the owner sells the property and in that process broker fees are paid by the owner. NY must be on a complete system to have this system, maybe a different planet to require the purchaser to pay brokers fees. . I've sold a few properties in my life. Now as a seller I seriously consider the brokers fee. This could make sense if all is in the contract.
I'm not sure where these statistics came from, but they're probably not controlling properly for different size apartments or some other similar variables. I say this because I know for a fact you can live in NYC by yourself for 80k salary, and be getting by. 80k a year is the cutoff earning, not 130k like the video is saying. Also they're probably discussing Manhattan which is the most expensive area, instead of the other Burroughs like Brooklyn or Queens where the majority of people actually live
How do you feel about the perspective that this is simply the result of too many people trying to live in too small an area? I hear some people suggest moving to lower COL areas, which I did myself at one point (though in my case it was from Cali to Fl).
Most people who suggest that do not understand how jobs work. The COL is lower because there is less economic opportunity, if everyone moved there there wouldn't be enough work. Most jobs aren't minimum wage, they're skilled trades that people tend to learn on their own the further you get away from cities.
@@vyvianalcott1681 You're correct, but I feel like we're seeing this play out in NY. I definitely did the 4-man roommates living situation for awhile after I moved from Cali to Florida, but it was still easier to get a house here than it would have been. Not a perfect solution, but I just don't have a better idea for the housing situation in NY.
@@Jimfromearthoo7 does COLA includes water rates, sewerage, insurance rates, benefits for any workers , fees? My sewer rates effectively doubled this year. My taxes are going up as well. Have you bought food lately?
Got it thanks. Say I have lived in the same RS for over 32 years. Now this is the first time my LL has not given me a new lease. The previous lease ended 12/31 /2023. I have asked a few times with no results. I don’t to report him and have any problems but still I want to feel secure in knowing everything is ok. Pardon my tying Eye Shingles.😜
OMG he failed to pay for the violations? Well it could be worse. He could be out making videos of other people's misfortunes and trying to profit from them.
