Sharing my love of sixth generation (PS2, Xbox, GC) sports video games with the world. Currently focusing on uncommentated full match clips, but planning to do some more interesting content once I can upgrade my PC setup.
I occasionally get copyright notifications for some of the music that plays over the playcall menu, but none of them have affected the videos in any way. Haven't had any copyright stuff come up with this game other than that, though.
No cost. PCSX2, the PS2 BIOS files required for PCSX2 to run, and the ESPN NFL 2K5 ROM file can all be downloaded at no cost online. The rosters are from the NFL 2K24 mod website, and both the mod (which replaces textures and isn't featured in this video) and the rosters are free. I used the 2024 week 9 rosters and manually added Joe Flacco as he wasn't originally present in the file.
@@mr.mikelewis1030 The PCSX2 emulator runs on PC. To use it, you’ll need to download the emulator itself, a PS2 BIOS file (which shouldn’t be hard to find, just search “PS2 BIOS download” and it should come up), and the ROM of whichever game you want to play (I recommend using Vimm’s Lair for this). To get these rosters, just search for “NFL 2K24” and go to the GitHub page that comes up, it will have a few roster files from the 2024 season. ESPN NFL 2K5 is available on Xbox and can be played through Xemu (an Xbox emulator which is also on PC) and on the 360, but I have no experience at all running that version of the game and so cannot provide any insight into that version.
Just PCSX2 set to render at an internal resolution of 720p and with anti-blur turned off. All of my other settings are at the default. It doesn't require a very beefy computer; I'm currently using a Dell G7 7588 with the emulator on my external HDD and the vast majority of compatible games work very well.
NFL2K5 is such an amazing game compared to the Madden games; that if you just gave it roster updates and released it every year, it’d still be a better game than Madden’s new releases and joke of a physics engine.
do you have any tips or suggestions on the sliders? i find it impossible to play this game, the qb has basically no time to throw, he gets sacked instantly, and whenever i throw its a pick
I play on all-pro difficulty and don't change the sliders. It sounds like you would benefit from boosting your blocking and dampening the CPU coverage a bit, though. I think the biggest thing as far as gameplay is just giving yourself some time to play a few matches through and get a sense of how the game plays. In terms of strategy and such, I don't come at it like I'm playing a football video game, I come at it like I'm playing football.
