Looks like the yard was either shut down or in the throws of being decommissioned. They are always sad places . In its heyday I'm sure it was exciting to railway enthusiasts . I returned to hoo junction in Kent recently , I used to hang around there spotting in the early 1980s , now a shadow of its former self . I find it incredibly sad.
I needed to know why don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock and that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Train and 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it bigger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Train tunnel into a High-Speed train? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Train line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 37 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project that is OK for London Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden Easily? Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street and also make another brand new tunnel train station in Chingford and could they extend the DLR? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and they can order Every 17 Octagon and Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique minor no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 117MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 117MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 16 Tonnes for all of the 117MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are Told!! And please do something about these very important Professional ideas Please Prime Minister of England, the Prime Minister of Sweden, the Prime Minister of Germany, the Prime Minister of Italy, the Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London.
Far far too good to delete. More Shunting videos are needed. Used to watch my dad drive the 08 at Shrewsbury. You dont see work like this anymore,,, even coupling up has to have a Risk Assessment done these days,,, lmao 😁😁👍👍
Great tour of the 37 😁 Looks like you were expecting to find a Ghost behind each door 😂 Definitely not with permission 😁😁😁, but the best way to do it . 👍👍👍👍👍
The wagons loaded with sleepers would have been loaded at Tallington. The works there are still sending out cast concrete products by rail. The last such loads Insaw were concrete tunnel segments.
You can't get this view of the yard these days since they raised the sides of the bridge. Not that there's much to see in the yard these days apart from the Perrier-branded twin ferry van that derail there over a decade ago. The yard north of the footbridge is still in use with GBRf having its engine shed there and it being the site of the Peterborough virtual quarry and the new(ish) Thameslink carriage sidings. The yard to the south of the bridge was fenced off during 2020 ant the plant life removed but no trains are currently using it.
Really excellent cab ride in the 101. Nice to see an original BR main line speed DMU as opposed to 25mph on preserved railways. This is proper! Lovely to hear the jointed track and see the crossing gates and semaphores. Well done for including the closed stations at Peakirk, Deeping and Littleworth. Waiting for the signal and gates at Park Road crossing was very unusual. I enjoyed every moment of this video. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Nice video remember a few of bunking around these siding one dusky night we made a mistake and parked near prison we got half way round and seen torches so hid in a via van after coast was clear we went back to car drove round to depot where staff was happy for us to have a wonder round and even have ago on tops machine after this we went to local chippy we just got our chips and 4 cop cars full pounced on us after a talking to them they thought we had parked car up for a break in to prison had had half of Cambridgeshire police force looking for us no wonder staff was trying to keep us there playing on tops machine 🤣🤣🤣🤣
All you needed was a master key and you could have started up any of those serviceable locos and moved it around the yard. Was the depot closed at that point?
The Depot was still open as we had got a Saturday permit from Peterborough Depot. Even if I had a key, I'd not have known how to start them, would loved to though. :-D
I worked there in the wagon maintenance depot shed, just behind the signal box, when I started the depot had it's own shunt, after 1982 we used a big old tractor as a shunt, due to lack of a qualified engine driver.
When I travelled on them in the 70s and 80s it took around 90 minutes to complete the 55 1/2 mile journey from Cambridge to Ipswich or Ipswich to Cambridge. The trains called at all the stations and stopped 2 or 3 minutes at Bury st Edmunds on most journeys. The 29 miles from Cambridge to Bury st Edmunds took around 45 minutes.
@@neiloflongbeck5705 and chances are that particular unit survived in service another 5-7 years. The Norwich Crown Point 101s were transferred soon after 1993 to Longsight and served out their time on the Manchester-Marple/New Mills/Sheffield route as well as further afield to Blackpool, Southport and North Wales.
@@limeyfox without knowing the vehicle numbers we'll never know for sure. The one thing I can say the thumbnail for this video isn't of the vehicles used in the video as it was taken on 11/4/1987 and at that time set 22 of Cambridge depot consisted of DTS 54363 which left Cambridge for Norwich on 10/5/1987 before ending its days at Laira on 23/12/1991 and DMBS 50204 which left Cambridge the same day for Norwich but ended its days at Longsight some time after 16/12/2003, after withdrawal it was preserved on the NYMR.
Sorry I'm a bit late on commenting ....... I've only just found your series of videos. ..... Were you granted permission to walk around the yard, and allowed to climb in the locos ? ..... Where did you get the BR hi viz vests from ....
Hi Dan thanks for commenting. Yes! one got special permission from the BR offices just by the volunteer fire station in Peterborough, I think those offices have long closed since, they issued the High viz vests along with a Saturday permit that I have still somewhere. Basically you could do just what you wanted but not walk away with any souvenirs and not to walk out onto main line.
What a fabulous bike, and the colours really cool but video was a bit short! Thanks for pointing it out to me, please upload more, can't wait to see more of the bikes and Emma! ;)
