Such nostalgic memories of DJ Doboy’s Special Summer Edition 01 mix... I likely listened to this on the DJ Doboy (shoutcast/Winamp?) stream at the time, but I also remember Doboy’s site. I think it offered his mixes as MP3s available to download - a noble feat, at the time, given bandwidth costs. With 2022 quickly coming to an end, I often ache for those days; circa 2001, not a relative care in the world. The weight of adulting and growing older weighs upon me now. We live in troublesome times; inflation, war out east - all sorts of global perils. Every generation has likely said it, but it seems like things are getting stranger and stranger. Tomorrow marks the day the public gets its first images from the James Webb space telescope. I cannot recall having been this excited for a scientific release. I anticipate so much learning will come of this magnificent creation for mankind. We are only beginning to probe the nature of reality. One day, we will achieve the ability to simulate any environment and place our consciousness within this machine. This milestone is what I consider is going to be a fork in the human species. The choices we make with such technology will be interesting, to say the least - it will be truly wild. I can see governance being required to regulate humanity’s consumption for wanting to live as any form, anywhere, with any property or ability, for extended periods of time. The ability to exist within a custom-created existence would essentially be to become God. Could such a reality prove too tempting to disconnect from? Would it be abused? Could some entrap others within hellish prisons? Who will write the laws and determine the ethics of such a technology? Would it be offered by a tech conglomerate or would there be end-user/individual experiences? Would we find a way to transcend each others’ realities and connect them together via a simulated internet, of sorts? I humbly feel I live too far ahead of my time. This is arguably one of the most painful and lonely “core” feelings, the population is devoid of prafentex people. Yes, I said prafentex. This is a forgotten corner of the Internet to memorialize such thoughts, but all is one and the same. Nicolás, know that if you one day read this, I love you. 07/11/2022.
