Thanks for checking out my INDEPENDENT review channel!
I am Gijs Loning and Outdoorguru is the name of the channel and the website. I am an independent reviewer from The Netherlands - or Holland - and I am an absolute outdoor and bike nutter. I mainly review outdoorgear, and sometimes trekkingbikes and tech stuff like drones. I try to upload a video every week.
Independent reviews have always been a cornerstone in my life. I am not being paid for making these reviews and on www.outdoorguru.com I don't have advertisements. The products that I review are returned to the manufacturer after publication. If you value independent reviews: please subscribe to my RU-vid channel, like my Facebook page and follow me on Instagram and Twitter. (Links ↓)
I value your opinion highly so be sure to comment and let me know what kind of videos you'd like to see.
The problem with hiking and outdoor sports in general is that you are forced to wear such ugly clothes. Orange shorts in particular should be considered a capital offense.🙄😵💫👎
8:27 Hi, I have a question, I have GWG-1000 just purchased. When the crown is completely tightened it is normal for it to move slightly, as if to say that there is a slight movement

Note to all, ThinkTank actually makes 4 versions of this bag. There are 2 versions that sport the Mindshift logo on the bag, and they have a more camping backpack appearance, offered in black and green. They also have black and green versions that sport the ThinkTank logo on the bag, and they have a more urban / generic backpack appearance. I figured this out when I originally bought the green Mindshift version, then exchanged it for the black ThinkTank version. I had both bags for a couple days and can confirm they are identical in features, pockets, size, only the logo and overall appearance are different. Pictures of all 4 versions are on their website.
Seems a good sleeping bag just ordered one off eBay for a really good price hopefully a good upgrade from my oex leviathan 900 as that bag is 650 fill down.
After 4 years, and found your review... Finally I decided to get this Singi 48 ,with the side pocket and the gear holder for the trekking poles... and I fight myself to compare between the Singi 48 and the Gregory baltoro 65... Both are my fave so far... Because of your body weight is the same with me, so I decided to get the Singi 48...Thank you so much for the review, it's really helps...😊🎉
I did by those...two times,an failure at the same spot(sales person dosent belive me,so phucch Hestra). I went other where, and now i've got some AWESOME gloves, that lives more than a single week🙄👎
This is the best video I've seen on the Kansbol. I just picked one up last month, and was curious about the microbevel. It's a great knife for carving and slices very well with the thin blade. The light weight makes it a perfect knife to throw in the pack for hiking, along with a Victorinox.
Thanks homie. Just found a pair and they rang them up wrong and I got them for $15! Woop what a score. These are mind blowing and comfy. I was gonna pay $150 for them and got them for ten times lower 😊. I plan on hiking and using them in the winter at work.
hi gijs i l startet backpacking this year and really love your videos i like your good mood in every video and find them realy helpful keep up the good work !!!
i bought one and it is total trash...in 1,5 years the walls between the long cell divisions blew up and now it seems like one big red sausage...waste of money...DO NOT BUY IT!
Thx for review. Got The same color. Is still fantastic after all years. Handle is more important then a blade in that size. Must be full grip. Dont have that stop loop system. Will try do a loop on the sheath with paracord. If any have a link please share. Thx.
So you personally wouldn’t put the sleeping bag in the dry bag with the clothes? I bought essentially a 60l dry bag which fits my sleeping bag, blow up mat and clothing. And that sits at the bottom of my pack then cooking equipment goes on top. With my tent in its original bag where most would put a roll up mat at the very bottom of the bag in those straps. Edit: also instead of a beanie could you also stick with a cap but put the hood up on the down? ( I’m still a beginner not questioning you or suggesting improvements just comparing and asking for reasoning so I can improve)
Hi Templar, No I don't. I like to keep things sepparted. The beanie/cap/hood quastion I don't understand. Please clarify. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
I've had my Eldris for 4 years and I really like carrying it. I got a kydex sheath made for mine. That little rascal has come in handy so many times, I'm glad i bought it. Even field dressed a Whitetail buck with it because my cousin's knife wasn't sharp enough. I carry it in my EDC rotation with other small fixed blades. Thank you for your video. I love the outdoors and try to get out when I can when I don't have to work.
Hi Edward, I don't need to bring it. In Europe we are lucky that we don't have a bear problem (wolfs is becoming a different story but I don't hear anyone about a wolf canister 😉 ). Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
You're back!!!! Where you been my friend???? Gijs... if you have to choose between the Nick, Rogan, Unna, or Soulo; which would you choose? I know it depends on weather, but the Unna looks great, but no vestibule :(
Hi TTD, Thanks for the being there and noticing. Where have I been..... Well you noticed I was gone again.... Life is a bit less super duper at the moment. Mom has been in hospital several times, we all had Covid and I am still not ok; very tired after a couple of hours of work with splitting headaches. So.... I listen to my body and be slow and hope everything will land on it's feet in the end 🙏. The tent.... what purpose and conditions? Cheers, Gijs
I don't want to have to do major micro surgery on a device to replace the battery when it finally crrrps out after years of sitting in a camera bag. I just don't have that kind of energy or time any more. So a non-replaceable battery is kind of a deal killer on any device.
Very comprehensive review. I think this is one of very few goo backpack reviews on the whole youtube across all brands. Altough this review is very informative, is not enough to make a choice amoungs different bags. So Gijs, maybe you can consider doing comparing reviews, amongs similar bags. For example in the Netherlands market, I believe this bag is direct comptetor to Osprey Kestrel or even Osprey Atmos(which you already have a review on your channel).
Hi Arvin, I get the remark but I test for longer periodes and testing 5 packs in the same volume would also take 5 times the time. I just don't have it..... Next to that: Markets in The Netherland/US/UK and EU are different. Positive is that there are hardly real bad backpacks out there so I take my pick on the ones that I find interesting and do the review. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
