listen, i can understand that someone may not think that the animated TLOTR is a polished and well done adaptation. however it was done on the cheap and they ran out of money. and if you don't like ralph bakshi we can't be friends.
When I was playing Super Metroid for the first time (as my first Metroid game no less) without any prior knowledge of the series I didn't assume that the captive Metroid broke free in that beginning sequence, the scientists were already shown to be dead on the title screen before the Metroid was out of its containment capsule so I figured something else must have taken it. And the game doesn't really do a whole lot to make you believe that Metroids are supposed to be extremely dangerous, it's subtly implied but it mostly makes you think that Metroids are dangerous when in the wrong hands, not so much on their own.
I dont see ME as separate or "Too dark". Nothing there contradicts Tolkeins world in tone. Its just a different set of eyes that we view the world through.
As much as I would like a remake of this game it was really done perfectly the first time and a remake would only serve to destroy it just like Final Fantasy vii.
Absolutely fantastic video; I played one of the games when I was a kid. Either the second or first, and never finished it. (At least I'm very sure I played one of them, as certain parts of the video seemed to trigger core memories.) Never knew 3rd Birthday existed!
what everybody calls Metroid's greatest weakness is actually its greatest strength. hand drawing a map of the alien planet you are exploring is more fun than pressing select. thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Such an amazing game from my childhood I’ll never forget. And this is gaming journalism at its finest that dives deep into what went into the making of this gem
I started playing in 2005 via LAN parties and I barely recognize the game anymore. I still remember when Puck was introduced by ice frog from a community contest and when Mirana was new and her ult chased down a hero and it couldn't be canceled. I still remember when SA threw down a stasis trap as well. I miss when the game had a dark atmosphere. How it feels too "cutesy" and marketed towards children.
I understand some of the analysis, but completely disagree with the conclusion. Jade Empire was awesome! The fighting was fun, the story was so unique, and the characters were really interesting. On top of that, I loved going through all the different possible endings you could get.
I love your videos, I have been watching retrospectives since forever, but yours hit just in the right spot. Absolutely perfect to put on my second screen while I work on my stuff. The best retrospective for one of my all time favorite franchise.
Parasite eve 2 is the best sequel for me. Feels like a combination of resident evil (controls) and final fantasy (magical powers / attack) I feel like I’m Aya Brea every time i play the game 😅 super love your video!! ❤️
I’m a parasite eve 2 gamer until now!! It’s just weird I appreciated parasite eve 2 more than the 1st sequel. I had a classmate (unfortunately not with us anymore) suggested that I request parasite eve game disk as a present on our Christmas party exchange gift. That time i was already hooked up with resident evil game so I was not that interested with 1st sequel. But when they released the parasite eve 2 (my most beloved game aside from resident evil 3) i was completely addicted to it like i have to play it everyday. What a nostalgia for 90’s kid like me ❤️
Of _course_ the bigots whined about a black main character in the new game 🙄 I don’t envy anyone making content about video games… or practically any other topic, really, in this age of “oh no I fell for the anti-woke conspiracy theory and have become an enormous snowflake crying when I see a woman or black person” troglodytes.
I could watch you explore and just get immersed in Morrowind for hours. Definitely recommend that one for a livestream, as I’m confident lots of oldies like me will totally be on board! Hope you’re feeling better lately! ❤️
I don't understand your point about the Dahaka's weakness to water when the very first chase ends with the prince discovering that passing through water is the only thing that can ensure his safety. The fact that you haven't addressed the chases at all considering how they're big set pieces is incredibly strange. It would be like reviewing SOT without talking about the time rewinding.
It's so frustrating that they keep trying to reinvent the wheel with the artstyle after Ayami Kojima already nailed it. The one thing that was already perfect! 😫
This unlocked a memory for me. I was sick from school for several days and played thru Sands of Time. I loved it so much. Idk why I’d forgotten. It’s not really my preferred genre of game, either, not now nor back then, and I can’t remember why I had it for my OG Xbox. It isn’t in my box of old Xbox games. I just checked. Still, that second and third day where I wasn’t too sick to enjoy gaming, wrapped up in blankets all cozy while I played this game that was so different to what I usually liked… that was a good couple of days 😊
Thank you for going through the effort to make this comprehensive video. I know its what you do on this channel, but thanks for covering Metroid specifically in this way.
Played this game 23 or 24 years ago. Just want to noted that all the combat systems the creator said is obscured or unexplained... IT'S NOT. Back them PS1 games came with a beautiful case with a little hefty book inside were every single combat system, mechanic and important element was carefully explained. Developers never imagine we will be emulating their games and never having access to the book that came with the game. Great work. Watch it complete in two days. Edit grammar.
Truly impressive that a video about a game series I’ve never cared anything about (I’ve been around playing games since it came out, and I knew of the series’ existence), in a genre I find completely simplistic and dull in the gameplay, can be such a great watch. Edit: ooh I was ignorant of saga not being just another flying shooter. I love me some rpgs, both western and J
