Tweedy hasn’t written a good song on any of the last three albums. Even Schmilco wasn’t very good. Wilco needs to retire. They stopped being a rock ‘n roll band about 10 years ago.
Long time Wilco fan, but - dear god - Ode to Joy, Cruel Country, and Cousin are abominations. Wilco used to be a rock ‘n roll band. Tweedy hasn’t written a non-mopey, true rock ‘n roll album in 10+ years. Sad. I guess he’s just playing out the string, fulfilling some contractual obligation. Slapping together some sub-par material as an excuse to go on tour and keep bilking people out of their entertainment dollar by phoning in a “concert”. They should’ve packed it in after this album (or maybe after Schmilco).
Interesting...Tweedy almost looks anxious and uncomfortable as he prepares to sing the tune back in 2010. He looks so calm, comfortable and loving life these days when playing.
Man, I love this song and I LOVE this band. The festival looks truly beautiful. Fellow fans(!), I just uploaded a sincere Wilco song quiz to my 'channel', as a small way of spreading some joy. To Jeff, John, Glenn and the boys, I would be beside myself if you took the quiz and posted your score in the comments. ...pretty sure Nels gets them all right. 😹
Every Solid Sound is filled with pleasant surprises. It never gets old.. I'm still smiling from this year's festival and can't wait for Solid Sound 2026. Thank you Wilco!
We had an awesome time! Even with the rain, and it always rains...that's why we're the couple always to the left of the stage with the blue beach hut! See eveyone in two years.
They finally played this at Solid Sound. For the first time. I requested this at every show they played since its release. Not gonna say I didn’t have tears in my eyes. This fucking song. 🖤🖤🖤
I hope this is actually Wilco. The only time I can get my dbag brothers and dad to get together is when you guys come out with an album. They don’t even realize it. Thank you. And f u if u stole this,
Finally (respectfully) getting into their later stuff. I was a HUGE Uncle Tupelo fan - late 80s/early 90s. Wilco made a big impact. Being There filled with anthems and sounds that still vibrate. Jay Farrar and Son Volt was the melancholy step-brother that also owned a place in me. I got to meet Jay at a Gob Iron show in Brooklyn around 2005 (a band he formed with Anders Parker who was friends with a musician friend- got to hang with him before the show in a home setting). Saw Wilco in Minneapolis at the Walker music series- I taught preschool across the street, and the dad of one of my students ran the Walker, and gave me tickets. Always loved Jeff- I'm Trying to Break your Heart was epic. I recently watched the Jay Bennet documentary, and I have gotten a renewed love of those two albums. You Tube recommendations told me it's time to give this album a spin. Loving it.
