It would be great if you explained what the effect would be when combining 2 arrays of different wattage. Say you have an existing 4x250 watt array and want to add 4x450 watt array through a combiner box.
Thanks for the kind explanation sir,I am working in TIME SYNCHRONIZING product which having IRIG-B,NTP SERVER So can you explain little bit detail about IRIG-B NTP and how it works in power statioy
The Series is fantastic, question Can I connect 4s to 3s 2parallel solar panels, to ending in one string of 7 in series, for a total of 10 panels, I'm trying to find out which is a better parallel string of 5 which yield 263.0 volts with 4400 watts or 8 in series will yield 420.8 volts with 3520 watts and the 4s combine to 3s2p, is all relate to the limit 450 volts for the inverter and 4500 watts also a limit of the inverter, panels have 440 watts, 52.6 Voc, and 10.2 amp of Ioc, imp 9.8 amp
The best presentation on the actual outworking of PME demonstrated so concisely that anyone with basic understanding of Electrical engineering could understand. Great work Affinity Team !
Hello from Brazil, in 2:11 you said that the template is out of the box that comes with the software... Do you mean "template for the power monitoring expert" or for the ion 7650? Does power monitoring software replace "automaticaly" template that came with factory with the ion 7650 originaly? or it does nothing to the meter, and the data is already there on the meter memory? I have two ion7650 and i can´t find what data i can use to plot the itic(cbema curve). if you help me i´ll be very pleased!. thks.

Really makes alot of sense. A suggestion: doing some math problems on how to hook up mismatched panels in series vs parallel to lessen the total affect.
what if you have each module going to a bus bar then to a charge controller? or one set of 300w panels and another of 400w panels going to a set of positive and negative bus bars to your charge controller?
Awsome man I came here looking to get some info.I'm going to start my first solar panel safety job and came here to see for any tips been doing safety for 5 yrs now love my job.
Hi Sir, thanks for the informative video... I would like to have a clarification regarding an ever-happening issue in my solar plant of 1.625 MWp . Firstly, I shall state my system particulars. 1) We have our ABB inverter negatively grounded. 2) We also have utilised branch connector with inline fuses of 15A for combining strings of same polarity. Btw, Isc of our module is 9.24A only. The issue is that the fuses in the branch connector particularly in the negative polarity blows down more often..Is this situation has to do anything with our grounding configuration? Our inverter doesn't seem to detect any ground fault since GDFI fuse of just 5A didn't blow ever. Much appreciated for your say on tbis. Thanks in advance
Hi Adam, i have installed 6x350w and 5x380w total 11 nos panel installed serice connected to my 3kw mppt ongrid inverter .Let me no any power loss happen this system. please advice ...

I am making a power coat oven & I am running two 2000w elements But I can't get a volt & amp analog meter to work on 240 volts, I have a 50 amp meter & CT ratio/5A volt 0.66KV & a 300 volt meter Can you help me my email is popgun3855@yahoo.com Think you Jerry
Nononono... conversional "wisdom" you want you panels steerable (to some extent) but better to optimise for winter, when you need the most energy, and the least is available!
What should be the criteria for the CT ratio selection. For example if the max load is 400 amps then should i use 500/5 ratio or 800/5 Ct ratio and why !
I recently installed a small window type CT on a small wind turbine(100Watts) and i noticed that the offset error varies with ambient temperature(the higher the ambient temperature, the higher the offset), is this typical with a small CT? is this due to the fact that the resistance changes with temperature?
While copper’s resistance does change with temperature, based on the CT lead wire length, we find this change in resistance to be negligible for our applications. We encourage you to talk with OEM of the CT to determine: The operating temperature specification for the CT. The specifications for the CT lead wire. If the temperature change and its impact on resistance accounts for the offset.
hi,can you please suggest on two case, 1) what is the effect on performance if i connect a 275Wp module in a string of 235Wp module? 2)what is the effect on performance if i make a single string of 275Wp module and connect the same in parallel with string of 235Wp module? Both the combination will be connected to a grid tied central inverter having single MPPT. please suggest.
1) What is the effect on performance if I connect a 275Wp module in a string of 235Wp module? If a 275W module is put in series with one or more 235W modules, the 275W module will behave like the 235W module(s). All modules in any string adopt the power characteristic of the lowest power module in the string. In this scenario, you could lose up to 15% of the total power that could be delivered. (235/275 of the 275W module) 2) What is the effect on performance if I make a single string of 275Wp module and connect the same in parallel with string of 235Wp module? Both the combination will be connected to a grid tied central inverter having single MPPT. In this scenario, both strings will operate slightly sub-optimally from their ideal max power point. The high W modules will run a bit under their ‘ideal’ voltage, and the low W modules will operate a little above their ‘ideal’ voltage. This being said, I would expect the power in this scenario to be higher than would be the case with mismatched modules in a single string (previous question). In this scenario, I would expect the loss to be ~5% of what it would be if each string had its own MPPT input. Hope this helps! -Adam Baker, Affinity Energy
Hello Sir This is very informative video I get good knowledge about CT. I want to use CT in 0.75 HP AC motor current measurement with full accuracy and how reliable to use CT for current measurement and using in our machine. Kindly please suggest which CT i have to use in this application. Thank You
Very well done informational video. Got a project coming up soon and may have a few questions. Nice to have these types of videos for the public. Thanks!
Thanks for the presentation. It was very useful especially regarding the advantage of using the IRIG-B instead of NTP protocol, which everyone likes to do nowadays.

Hello, I would like to ask you some questions about scada. 1-What is the function to change pages with a button? 2-What is the use of having the system clock visible? 3-What is the function to activate a Tag of the Database? Thank you
Sure thing! 1- Ease of navigation 2- Some equipment is on a schedule (you may need to be aware of pricing signals that are associated with time of day) 3- In some SCADA software, activating a trend for a point just requires a single click of the mouse. Hope this helps! To learn more about SCADA, check out our blog: www.affinityenergy.com/about-us/blog-news/
