came here few months ago and the food was crap. the prawn starch roll was bad in that only prawn bits were used and they were not fresh, and had a dried texture.
I lived in Singapore for two years. Sad I didn’t find this place. Love dim sum. Luckily where I live,In Brighton UK,there are a lot of Chinese people so can get great dim sum,at China Garden in Preston Street
Their service , even its non peak hours - were very bad ! They saw us entering and waited to be seated - the restaurant was not full house . Few waiters n waitress saw us - no one bother to ask us or lead us to a table or tell us to wait . The point was , I’m with a handicap person with crutches. He is an amputee and will be nice to have a chair to seat and wait . Note: the waiters n waitress did see us standing lah ! I then went around , looking for a waiter that finally lead us to a table , near the stage , by the way I told him I need table , it’s not him providing service to us first - . After waited for 10 mins , no one’s cares about us - No menu - I then went to the front counter and asked for menu . I’m ready to place order ( dinner time) - raised my hand till tired - no one bothers . I then went around n look for waiter again that I am ready to place order . He told me “ wait ar wait ar , will get someone over “ … Then I wait ar wait ar again . I don’t see human coming to us . For the next 15 min, We left the table , left the restaurant . I think I left a word at the counter : your service sucks ! “ All in all , we spent nearly one hour from walking up to the restaurant and left that place emotionless without any food intake . That was 8:45pm . Shall not visit the restaurant anymore . The good old names that we have the memories were the time they cherish the customers . After many years , the management level seems don’t bother to train their staffs on handling customers subject . The reason is there’s always a long Q , they always will have customer , so what is customer service to them ?
Red Star’s founder was one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Singapore culinary world from the 60s to 90s. They were responsible for the promotion of our CNY Yu-Sheng 魚生. I am so happy to see Red Star onRU-vid.
Used to go as a kid in the 80s. It’s a very nice place, for the vibe and the good food, but it has probably since changed, but the less than desirable service almost comparable to victor at sunshine. The difference are the prices and food choice. Young people who wants service, don’t go. I personally don’t mind this place.😂
How come ah? I realised in Singapore not much dim sum place. Whereas in Malaysia it's like everywhere... I personally don't eat but need to bring my clients.
If you havent already tried kallang cantonese live prawn noodles at Old Aiport Road then its not a proper list. Imagine this: 6, WHOLE, LIVE, relatively large tiger prawns for JUST $13 (+$2 for ribs) and soup thats not overly jerlat. Its hands down the best value to quality to price ratio of any prawn mee ever
I agree with the list especially the jalan sultan one, their chilli is very hot and nice and dried prawn noodles to die for. What about Zion road’s one? Why only review the dry version… the Zion road has the best soup version in my opinion.
