I have a Subaru 2.5 engine in my 86 vanagon my problem is with high rpm’s no matter what I do it stays at 1500 rpm’s never goes down any suggestions Ben thanks
You do awesome clean work ! Is this a non acvs or acvs ? Just got my first vanagon and am trying to determine what engine would be best. Seems like youve used the same engine 100's of times and im sure for good reason. Why is this your engine of choice?
What are you talking about... commenting on a 10 year old video? Busaru is a real company that as nothing to do with this video. Me I have been close for 2 years
@@benhuot6852 Wow, Busaru really has a firm, I didn't know. I saw your Bus and Subaru engine and connected two words in my head. You have a lot of interesting videos with good work! Good luck with your work!
This guy has been butchering engines for years... I'm sure he did a ton of damage to the rod bearing with this method. Side play is the damage that he caused.... Idiot in action...
@@josefmartens1053 Its the only way to remove the piston. Splitting the case is not an option. In this situation there are special tools that work. When the pistons are this stuck it requires lots of quality time and understanding of what you are doing. I've rebuilt over 35 of these engine ( I lost count after 35) and never had to heat the pistons. Basically you have to setup a wrist pin puller with the engine block in the way and acting as part of the shims.
this made total since to line the arrow up if you use the other marks and not line it up with the belt marks you'll be out of time. i think i understood him correctly. just use the arrow and be done.
Question on SODE running the most current version - have been trying to get it to work with gsx, HOWEVER even with the minimal practical graphics settings - still incur OOM - I do run a fair amount of ORBX and Megscenery earth stuff - So..... I am wondering if i disable most of those things too - perhaps things might clear up? Sys is AMD 1700X 16GB RAM, 8GB Video card rx580.
@@DavidG2P The change in rotation of the output stub axles/flanges is due to the diff being placed on the other side of the pinion shaft. Originally, subaru placed the diff on the starter side of the trans. For rear engine use, it must be put on the other side. Changing sides causes the diff to go the other way.
I was thinking the same thing, do they have to run the engine the other direction or something and how long does the trans last when you turn it the opposite direction?
Okay, when I first looked at your video, I was a bit CORNFUSED to say the least. Now, from the knowledge I've obtained since then, I believe what you mean to say is the ARROW is TDC ( Top Dead Center ) which is for timing purposes ONLY. By rotating the crank to line up with the marks on the outer perimeter of the cam pullies, the crank gear, you are putting the pistons at the midpoint of stroke, therefore if you didn't get the marks where they should be you won't damage the pistons. Feel free to correct me If I'm incorrect ( FULLA SHIT.) We're all here to learn.
@@benhuot6852 Okay Ben, I just did a timing belt on my wifes 2006 Forester. I lined up the marks as to place the pistons at a halfway position, so you don't bounce them off the spark plugs. Hence the lines on the cam sprockets and crank gear. Good news, everything is running in perfect order. I guess I just didn't understand all the marks on the pulleys. BUT, I still have that little rattle ... or clinking sound on a cold start. The harmonic balancer/crank bolt was barely even tight. I torqued it to 30 -ft lbs., then to 130 ft-lbs. I noticed a leak from the oil pan drain plug, and also just above the oil filter. I'm in Ohio and the weather hasn't been good. I'm waiting for it to warm up a bit so I can see what I can see. Thank You for your video.
@@benhuot6852 i had a guy in my uber just the other day from Montreal....bear hunting enthusiast....super nice guy, friendly and affable. i.like French Canadians now. i got no beef with them. :)
Thank you. Wanted to see at least a rough walk through as to what's involved. You provided that 👍😁 I know it must be a pain to juggle "the media" 😎 but we really appreciate it. Not concerned about fancy dancy camera and writing. Just hanging out with while you are elbow deep is enough. Cheers! 🇺🇸
