Avid shiny hunter and Pokemon fan working on completing the Living Shiny Dex! General consumer of video games and open to talking about most anything! Glad you stopped by! :)
I generally don’t mind any shiny changes generally speaking but this series I’m doing is forcing me to be a bit more critical of some. I’m terrible at visualizing minor changes like that but I don’t think the pale pink or the green are bad separate but together I don’t think it works. Glad you enjoy the shiny to some extent and who knows with some of the changes that have happened to shinies in newer titles maybe it could get paler out of nowhere one day
Yeah. I started off thinking it only appeared in the Tagtree Thicket and eventually looked up that you could isolate it elsewhere. Never hurts to look stuff up!
A little tip from one shiny hunter to another - magic guard Clefable with skill swap is your *friend* Magic guard negates recoil from most moves - exceptions being self-KO moves (like Memento and Explosion), Struggle and self-inflicted confusion damage Also, Clefable can also learn Trick, meaning it can give the target a focus sash to bypass false swipe's low base power. For that reason, I maxed my Clefable's speed EVs, and go for skill swap first turn, followed by trick on the second Pairs very nicely with Damp Golduck that knows Soak and Skill Swap and Breloom with Spore. *All* Breloom can now learn Spore via move reminder, regardless of whether it learned it as a Shroomish or not, which is very nice
Yes! I think it’s very interesting that this is the case! Unfortunately the shorts format doesn’t provide me with enough time to touch on that. I just think that in a general sense it’s interesting that they would even do that especially right out the gate in gen 1!
@Q-TebGamesNL Oh! That's interesting. That would mean we might have an interesting dynamic, where Nidoran have the babies while still very young themselves. The nidorina care for the babies, while Nidoqueen protect the clan or something like that. Anyway, it's interesting to think about.
I was going to comment that as well I don't remember where I've seen this but most don't find a moon stone and reach the third stage of evolution so they're usually stuck at their second stage
This totally makes sense and is a great point! Still very interesting to think about in terms of how they were designing pokemon back then. This shows that they idea of a “fully grown” pokemon wasn’t fleshed out to always be the final evolution and that there could be some form of strange mutation the pokemon are capable of! Just another example of just how different the nido lines are compared to most other pokemon!
The general shape is to imply some type of rodent for sure. If you look up “what is Nidoran based on” it comes up with rabbit so that’s what I stuck with, but they certainly are a bit uncanny looking as some pokemon are.
Yes! I almost thought it switched from head to back but then I realized Nidoran has some on its back too lol! I did also check and its dex says that its horn has atrophied to make it less likely to poke its offspring, just as a fun fact!
No I am not. His shorts like mine are opinion based. I took some inspiration yes but I give my own opinion and talk about the shiny colors as well and I’m doing one pokemon at a time. If that’s not for you totally fine!
Shoot you’re right! My bad lol! Edit: Researched this further out of interest. The Pangolin and Echidna are similar in nature both being animals that are referred to as “Scaly Anteaters” and “Spiny Anteaters”. There’s no real relation but just thought it was interesting. And some of the pokemon community seems to state that Sandslash takes inspiration from both!
The reason could be it is a easy life for pikachu so it becomes a surfer and works on skills it couldnt when it had to forge to get berries so maybe all pikachus have slight pyshic powers but due to it has to forge it cant focuse on honing them
Sorry if you disagree, but this is just my opinion at the end of the day and that doesn’t devalue yours but you might want to consider maybe not being so rude to strangers on the internet merely based off an opinion and if you want to comment say something like “I disagree because…”. Just a thought! Have a great day! :)
This is also a good point. Might be worth looking into a little more to see if it’s purely coincidence or if there was some historical reason behind using mice. Obviously Pokemon was long after Disney but I believe they planned to use Clefairy as the mascot first if I’m not mistaken.
@ZionZinzy might be something along the thoughts of a exotic pet you can kinda relate to type deal like most people know someone with a mouse but not everyone has a mouse so relatable but still cool
