Alright, I have actually gotten the opportunity to playtest the game. It's a bad attempt at making something like Awesomenauts but as a 3D shooter, and inserting some Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare here and there. Like in the video, there's fodder enemies going down each lane and attacking the big sconce heads to distract it while you deal damage, which is just copied from Awesomenauts with its droids and turrets. Straight from Awesomenauts is also the in-battle shop, which is just cluttered with garbage that you won't need to care about. The gameplay, as I have predicted in a previous comment, is SO STIFF. None of the attacks feel like they have any impact, and every fighter just soaks up so many bullets you'd think they have the tissue of sponges. It doesn't help that the weapons are all just variations of "shoot semi-automatic gun". There's abilities akin to Awesomenauts and PvZ:GW, and they range from "You Win"-buttons to nigh-useless. The ones that disable enemy firearms are the most ludicrous. You also seem to level up at arbitrary amounts of experience points, which you need to enable your abilities. Yes, experience in a shooter. The characters are so bland you'd imagine they stem from Back 4 Blood. There's too much to pick and it therefore becomes incoherent, as opposed to Team Fortress 2's limited but highly adaptable classes. Additionally, just spouting poorly-written lines over the place and even in menus is pretty distracting. As for the graphics, if it weren't for the large health bars above their heads you wouldn't be able to even register you're being attacked. There's so little indicated on your HUD but so much displayed it's no better than glueing the instructions for a toaster on your screen. There's no visual clarity, and everything blends together, an issue that Overwatch has been facing for years, and Valve had never faced until now. If you find yourself with an email or Steam notification saying you get a copy for playtesting Deadlock, accept it and forget about it after your first play session. At least you're getting a free game.
After getting invited to the game after so many times shit talking it, you are right it does suck. You're also right about the guns, apparently it's more about using abilities rather than using guns. If that's the case, why even have guns at all? They seem to mainly serve as a way to weaken enemies, which takes a bit of time even in the beginning of the game where everyone starts with like 500hp, even the minions which are mostly just there for you to grind for souls take a bit of time to kill, obviously they're weaker than players, but they still take some time to kill. And the heroes range from generic to uninspired overwatch rip-offs with a different coat of paint, the biggest example of that is Kelvin.... he's just Mei just with a gender swap, and Grey Talon is just Hanzo but he's native american instead of Japanese. Valve managed to do the impossible and make a worse version of overwatch. At least that game is good for a certain style of sfm, but this game has like 5 females and none of them are hot.
this actually looks really really bad. Another fortnite overwatch clone nobody ever asked for. These hero shooters are probably the worst games to exist yet they keep making them and nobody is playing them. I miss when games were made by men for men. Since we do make up 90 percent of gamers...
I don't understand how people are complaining about how the game looks at this point. It's probably 1-1.5 years from release. What I don't get though is the combination of PvP, shooter, and MOBA. With the size of the map, how is any meaningful player interaction going to take place? This PvP with a large portion of PvE, and I just don't see how this would interest player's?
As somebody who got into the alpha and played for 70 minutes, it's bad. The heroes have too much hp even in the beginning of each match and the guns also do jack shit damage unless you upgrade them, and even then the game seems to be more about using abilities rather than simply shooting each other.
@@d0ct0rz3d4 70 minutes is not enough time to gauge the balance of the game. Not to mention, obviously the game is not gonna be in a balanced state. It is clear that Valve did not want this game to be publicized because they aren’t happy with everybody seeing the game so early. Saying the game is bad because it’s not balanced right now is like going to a middle school and telling a kid to switch career paths from being a doctor because he is not performing well in science. The game is a proof of concept and is having a playtest specifically to improve the game, not to increase interest in the market like most other playtests are doing nowadays
@@luvsik7well now it's 3 hours and idc, now that I played it, I can at least now say I wasn't missing much. And about the overwatch comparison, it might not play exactly the same, but the idea isn't that much different, it's basically what overwatch would be if it was in 3rd person, had way more moba elements and heroes that manage to look worse than ow.
The fact the game tells you specifically to not share anything about the game to anyone and people choose to just ignore it hahaha I got it today as well
Maybe we should get system like china where your acc is tied to your social security number. People who make/use cheats/bots/scripts do not deserve 2nd chance and do not deserve to stay in any online video game (period). Unlike most people what infuriates me and makes my blood boil is not Valve's lack of care of cheaters, but instead the whole idea of cheaters existing, they are most disgusting creatures on the universe...
