This channel is designed to bring medical preparedness to RU-vid. I hope to use my experience as a critical care flight paramedic, reserve deputy sheriff, and tactical medic to help first responders and civilians alike implement evidence based medical care, select gear, and gain insight into EMS and law enforcement.

How would this compare against the Stemoscope Pro? I can't find anyone comparing these two products. I'm trying to find the best stethoscope to pair with hearing aids.
On the pay aspect. Its not uncommon to have recruiters and managers make the argument that its ok they pay so little because they will let you work so much.
luxrul bags are beautiful and I have never been disappointed with a handbag. The leather is soft and the hardware is durable. The design never goes out of style.
😂😂😂😂 "flossing the patient's wound". So funny. A friend was recently shot at work. Through and through below the knee. Destroyed his artery. Thankfully, someone had a tourniquet and saved his life. I bought a bunch of tourniquets for my people and sent them this video. Just in case!! You have the best first aid videos. ❤ thank you!
Well done! Althought I would like to add to first of all put pressure on the bleeding before applying the tournique on the extremety. According to ATLS
I have a pelican EMS case an built my own large first aid kit. This is my go to case when going to shooting range.. I have tourniquets , Israeli bandages, halo seals, just about everything. I do have decompression needle pen.in my case . This would only be used if an EMT, Doctor would be at the range during an emergency. I know the chances may be slim, but I’d rather have one in my case..
And then you go on though about maybe if you’re strong enough, you can apply a pressure bandage. It’s like no you hold the shit for fucking 30 seconds no matter what you have to have pressure on it for a standard of 30 seconds you don’t even tell them how long you’re supposed to have pressure on it for Right like you fucking drop a knee on that bitch make it hurt pain is the patient’s problem number one OK so then after that, you can take an ace bandage or whatever just make sure you always wrap up towards the heart no matter what you do wrap towards the heart so that way you don’t cause compression syndrome And then if you are going to do something like that, where you do add a pressure bandage you need to remove the to which you don’t talk about because if you don’t remove the tourniquet, you caused was known as compression syndrome, which is a buildup of blood and excess pressure in between two tourniquet which causes blood vessel to rupture
Bro, I don’t know where the fuck you think you’re doing but you don’t even know how to properly tell people how to apply a tourniquet number one it is always high and tight and if it’s on the leg and it’s a male patient you need to make sure you’re asking or feeling if they are not conscious what side they are on because if you pull that up You will cause death of that member or the testicles that is number one all right always high and tight unless you’re actually a train medic and you can tell the difference and you have the time to analyze to see if there’s only one bleeding wound on the leg that’s on the lower portion of the leg And then you turn the windless a couple times or so no, you turned the windless three times after you tighten the strap across the the limb three times not a couple or so, and then you take the tail of the strap you wrap it around the windless to secure it and then you take the time tab and Velcro it over the strap securing it in place then you work with either an clotting agent like quick clot, even though that may cause third-degree burns within the wounds and give you a whole bunch of other issues or combat gauze that has quick clot and laced inside the gauze fabric. It chemically cauterize the bleeding wound you stuff one full pack of quick clot followed by maybe another two or three full rolls of gauze not the little ones either the 5 inch wide ones the big boys you can stuff like three rolls of gauze inside somebody before the bleeding stops And then you can either apply and Israeli bandage if it’s on a limb, and then gently remove the tourniquet slowly if you know how to do it which most people don’t, so don’t do that. The only people who are allowed to remove the tourniquet or the person who applied it and the doctor just an FYI for army SOP pass that if you get hit in the chest, you’re gonna have a sucking chest wound you need to have an exclusive dressing for that or a chest seal. If you’re making an improvise exclusive dressing, you can use the thing like a plastic bag or potato chip bag anything that is like a thick plastic non-preferable layer you have two options you can either do the four side seal or you can do the three side flap three sided flap seal means you take three of the four sides down which allows air to escape, and then which case you need to use an NCD a needle decompression which you put it in between the second or third intercostal muscles of the chest, so just below the collarbone about two fingers beneath the collarbone in line with the nipple that’ll pierce the chest cavity without piercing the lung. I just explained what to do before your video even finished and I started after I saw you try to apply tourniquet
Thank you I am 16 and I’ve been worrying about what would happen if I ever got shot in my leg and now I know how thank you because I get worried sometimes😂
Wow just bought it and not sure if i made a good choice.. I am buying it for UFO hunting and Paranormal investigations, whats your opinion on that for this cam?
I like to lay the dressing down over the insertion site, then lift the hub and line away from the skin about 20-ish°, tent the dressing over the line, then pinch the tented dressing to itself around the line up to the insertion site, press down the remaining dressing to the skin, and lay the dressing encased line down over the dressing on the skin, and tape it down with one or two strips. It adds several anchor points to help prevent the line from being tugged out, and gives more staying power if there are fluids causing issues keeping the dressing stuck to the skin, especially with central lines. 😊
Sam, how much combat experience do you have in the military? Are you a physician. How many mass casualties have you been part of. Are you a good a researcher. How many times have you actually used tampons
My resume is pretty easy to find online. I even have videos about my career path. In summary I have been a paramedic for a little over 12 years, a SWAT paramedic for ~8 years (still active) and currently work as a critical care flight paramedic on one of, if not the, busiest helicopter in the state of Colorado. I have a BS in emergency management and homeland security and teach standardized classes such as PHTLS ACLS PALS AMLS STB and BLS. I have been apart of 2-4 truly large scale mass casualties and dozens of incidents that technically fit the definition of MCI without being actually large scale. Luckily for me and the medical community as a whole standard of care does not need to be dug out and discovered for each practitioner. Recommendations on this channel come directly from organizations such as the committee for tactical combat casualty care, the American college of surgeons and other academic institutions that exist only to publish and correlate data on items such as tampons (they don’t work for arterial hemorrhage, shocker). I have never used a tampon because it isn’t standard of care. Saying “well you don’t know because you never used one” is like asking how a surgeon knows that whisk doesn’t work for an appendectomy if he never tried it.
When it comes to high and tight vs 2-3 inches above the wound. Is there a consideration for how bullets tend to bounce around, or is this just a standard when an entry and exit wound is known and linear?
It's really only missing a first aid book, and a eye injury treatment kit and a note book with pen/sharpie. As far as the neck braces go, I'd keep them, they kinda act like one of those E collars they put on your pet, it would keep the injured person from looking around or looking at themselves- seeing wrecked cars, dead things or your own missing leg would put someone into shock. As far as the layout, I would rearrange it for sure. I'd also get some tear away pouches to put on the outside- these would contain the life saving equipment
I recently discovered that im allergic to fire ants while i was alone out in the sticks. When my throat started swelling, i panicked and grabbed the NPA out of my emergency kit, and inseted it. I doubt it did me any good, but i can attest to the fact that they SUCK! Now I'm here to learn EVERY piece of my kit. My lizard brain thought "this might keep me breathing!" Dumb as hell.
My son’s father was shot and killed 2 years ago here in Houston. No one around him not his friends no one knew even the slightest what to do or how to even TRY to save him. He just laid there and died. Since then I’ve dedicated the past two years to educate myself on how to possibly TRY, JUST TRY to help save someone or at least offer help rather than just let them lay there until medical helps arrives. I feel confident that if I was ever around someone who was shot I would know what to do I would know how offer some sort of aide until help arrived on top of being a might prayer warrior for that person. My heart goes out to anyone who’s ever lost someone to a fatal GSW.
I think the only thing i think they could do better with this is the attachment points. I feel if they made it so that there where attachment points for the "belt" on the top and the sides would make it so that it could be used with a chest hiking style harness and would be nice for riding on a bike/ motorcycle.
so ive heard of something like a quick clot powder. sprinkle it on and it does sorta the same thing as the quick clot with gauze. would that be a effective means to treat multiple wounds with standard gauze bandage or would a it be better to just use the quick clot with gauze. im thinking in of a multi wound situation such as multiple gun shots without spending the $50 for each quick clot gauze.
