-As a Blue and Royal my Squadron did an exchange trip in 1980 , we went to Fort Bragg 82nd Airborne Armoured (i think) and had the most fantastic time using the Sheridan!!
Great Video, I was on the Sheridan for three years and to be honest I hated everything about it, I was jealous of the Canadians, British and Germans they all seemed to have better vehicles than we did. Forty seven years later I get warm fuzzies when I see one in a film like this or a museum. Thank You!
Thanks, I spent 3 1/2 years on a Sheridan 1974-77 with 3rd Squadron 2nd Armored Cavalry in Germany. Will be at Aquino Weekend and I can't wait. Just wondering will the Sheridan be running those days? Thanks for the Video.
If that's an ex-RCA Sherman odds are its one of the former lend-lease M4A2(76)W HVSS which had been intended for the USSR but with the end of war of europe, never actually left the USA. Canada bought them cheap in 1946 to replace the war used tanks left behind in the ETO (rather than paying to bring them back, they were passed along to other countries needing to rebuild their armies). The regular forces used them until they were replaced with Centurions and then they went to the reserves, and when the AVGPs were bought the Shermans still running with the reserves were passed along to museums and a few other countries in South/Central America. The Cougar 76mm AVGP variant replaced the Shermans in the tank training role for the reservists, at least as far as gunnery practice was concerned.
Optimistically "reading between the lines" that title read as "live firing" at Canadian tank museum. Not. Am I the only one who misses those pre-Lockdown videos where firing the 50 cal M2 machine gun, and a round or two of 76mm high velocity main gun was a thing?
I drove this exact vehicle variant in 2009. I picked it up from KAF and it has new car smell. It was new from the factory. It was not new when I left. I drove it everyday, all day.
