His left scapular extends and his right scapula contracts! Power comes from contracting the left and extending the right scapula’s on the down swing. That’s why him and Tiger and all the long hitters have those super wide strong looking shoulders. Secrets out!
Mechanical precision with soft hands and that touch of artistry turning the club over. His feet are so stable. His head moves slightly back and down and stays there til impact like the big hitters, but what I love most is how the tee draws. Poetry in motion.
Tigers swing is so iconic. I've been watching him since 1999. I'm 31 now. Notice the perfect ball position lines with the heel on the left foot perfectly lined up. Perfect stable head position all the way through The angle on the up swing coming across that shoulder is precise. I've found myself I can come across below the shoulder and is something I still practice on improving. Also took note for the first time how after the follow through completes; how far back the grip and shaft are from his head. Something I may also try to open more. Great content once again. I love the slow motion analysis. I enjoyed the birds eye view of Rory's swing in particular. 👍👏
Pure leverage! I always thought that he pulled his right elbow in to his side but from this angle he has his straight left arm locked against his chest at the top then just levers it down with his back and shoulders, hips just clearing. Right arm does not seem to do much.
My first note was how straight he gets that left arm in the backswing. Second was his head was perfectly level the entire time. Third was how far his back opens toward his target. Fun forth was, Rory has an unmatched swing speed. The slow motion camera doesn't even pick up on the club head during the back swing.
Textbook Ben Hogan's book. He starts his downswing, with his hips, before he finishes his backswing so as to clear the hips and get his right side into the slot.
That left heal is raising due the front of that left foot is placing force into the ground to push the lead hip back and away, this heal lift is not a a planned movement, its an effect of force
