It would be nice if you gave a little bit more detail, and told us what a good resistance Reading Is. Lifting the float doesn't really say much.

I would check the proper freon charge, make sure the cooling system it's working properly as well the cooling fan(s), then the a/c door actuator, and door(s) they could be broken.
