Liked the walk. Didn't see Lafitte's Blacksmith shop though. Lived on Decatur street near Ursaline 50 years ago. Nice to see old neighborhood. The old Jax Brewery!
I've been to this city three times in my life, and I have never enjoyed any place more than each trip to New Orleans. If I could move their, even if I could be a snowbird for half a year every year I would totally do it. 14:22
I was raised in the St Thomas projects until I joined the Marine Corps in 1970. I miss the Mardi Gras, and this, the French Quarter. But most of all I miss the FOOD!!!! You can eat in a lot of cities but in New Orleans you EAT !!!!!! Boiled crab, shrimp and crawfish, red beans and rice, gumbo of every kind, po’boy sandwiches of every kind, beignets and coffee with chicory. THIS is eating. And don’t get me started talking about the music!!!!! I was heartbroken when I saw what Hurricane Katrina did to my hometown. I cried when I saw the death and total devastation. New Orleans is still trying to crawl back and I love seeing these videos. It’s a little bit of a lot of memories. Thanks for posting it.🥹👍
I’m from New Orleans and I grew up as a young kid in the St Thomas projects and we moved to a house at 933 Sixth Street right off of Magazine Street. After Hurricane Betsy smacked the city around and our house was torn up pretty bad. We moved out to Gentilly a few blocks from Lake Ponchartrain. Nice neighborhood. I joined the Marine Corps in 1970 and serving a 30 year career didn’t leave much time to go back home. I’m retired in San Diego now and I was heartbroken at the horrible damage Katrina did. I sure love all of the food.
