Who makes the engines for MG cars? The 1.5-litre petrol engine in the MG is a joint development with General Motors and SAIC, as are all current MG engines. The same engine block is used in a variety of cars including the Vauxhall Adam.
Legend... doing my wifes 1.6 idtec tommorow and was hoping not to have to get a hand primer set up in that small space... didnt even know this was here so thank you
Ciao! Facendo la traduzione su Google ho capito che hai spianato il collettore di aspirazione per farlo diventare uniforme e hai poi messo delle rondelle esternamente con i dadi per fissarlo mejo. Ti perdeva aria dalle guarnizioni?
Did this today, worst bit was trying to remove the hoses after unclipping and moving the clip down the hose about an inch to clear the plastic pipes on top of the filter housing. There's not a lot of room to get both hands in to wiggle, push and pull the hoses off the stubs. You can get an arm in from the right hand wheel arch and that helps. Best to remove the wheel and get a bit more room but as I had the wheels sitting on ramps I just persevered. Reassembly was much, much easier. Look out for diesel dripping down and running down your arm right up to your armpit. 😅 Thanks for making the video and for taking the time to upload.
That primer was on them at the start of that model but they removed it a couple of years later for some reason. I have a 2016 and it doesn't have the primer
I'm really glad this video is helping people out. I'm unsure of the service schedule on the interval of replacement for this filter but I would guess it's no more regular than 40k or four years. If it were my own car I would probably do it every two years or 20k. It won't hurt. My customer with this vehicle has had a lot of honda diesel's and makes me do them all every year 😐.
This has defo helped me out....couldn't find any information on this engine, so I ended up not doing it lol.... Thank you for taking time out to film it
@@co0ter1 thanks. on civic forum one guy was saying NOT TO DISCONNECT battery and make sure car is closed but dont get why battery should be connected when removing ecu
I have come across similair procedures for disconnecting the battery on some French cars in the past. I don't ever do anything special with any other cars, I regularly disconnect ECU , body control modules and other electronics. Sometimes without disconnecting the battery at all without problems. I wouldn't worry, just make sure everything is off and disconnect the battery. I never leave the keys in a car, sometimes a car can lock when reconnecting batteries. Just watch the pins on the ECU when you reconnect, very fragile. Ali the best. Please subscribe.
Hi, thank you for the video. Going to be attempting this in a few weeks, just wondering where is the ideal jack point for the front of the car, assuming you are going to use the reinforced point on the sills for the axel stand ?
That's a good question, I can't remember exactly on this model but I suspect it is difficult to find somewhere Central to lift the front in one go. I would suggest using the jacking point on the sill to get one side high enough to place a stand under the subframe or a chassis member running along the floor and do the same for the other side. You could then have a better look and possibly Jack on another part of the subframe or chassis member to gain some more height and get your stands positioned safely. Take care.
I sanded the mating surface flat, took the tubular spacers out and reduced their length with a grinder. Fitted the manifold back with very thick washers. Yes, M8 nuts. 13mm head size.
@@co0ter1 surging, very slight rough idle,. I put on a new throttle body gasket and manifold reface where the throttle body sits, it was a bit misshapen, new precat 02 sensor , and my obd reader bought up a MAP sensor code, had new map sensor seems about 95% ok but compared to my wife's identical car it's just not quite the same, not quite as crisp but loads better
I had the customer in again at the weekend for a service and he wanted the filter replacing again. Had to have a quick look at the video again LOL. Im thinking of cutting this filter open and making another video just to see what's inside, if anything. I thought it might be interesting. It's done less than 10k miles. Please subscribe.
thank you for the great video, only one that i could find on where and what to do on a mk9 2.2. acctualy just did mine, what a dumbass design. also managed to spil some diesel from the old filter on the ecu hardness conectors (did not expect the bottom of the filter is closed like a glass). thumbs up
Cheers bud - managed to do mine. You wernt kidding when you said trying to get access is a royal pain. Not a diificult job just unnecessarily time consuming for a serviceable item. My filter was seized on had to use a long wooden stick and tap it with a hammer, & the filter cup wrench kept slipping so had to insert a small piece of cardboard to secure the cup. I used a Bosch filter now after reading maybe I should have used a genuine filter? The mk8 2006-2011 2.2s have issues if you dont use genuine according to the civinfo forum. Not sure if its an issue on the mk9? Had to prime it by turning ignition on off 5 times to let it purge out any air but I did have a full tank of fuel to minimise any air locks. Its running fine. This video helped alot with locating the bugger. Thanks again!
I'm really pleased the video helped you, yes it's crazy how buried it is. I would like to think you would be okay with the Bosch filter. In almost 30 years on the spanners I have never had any problems with filters but I'm always supplied with decent brands. Perhaps the problems exist in other parts of the world? Maybe counterfeit parts? I like blueprint, mahle, purflux seem to be okay. The suppliers I use mainly service the motor trade and I have confidence with them. I'm not saying that problems don't exist though. Glad you got it sussed, you shouldn't have to go back in there for a while. Please subscribe.
Hi, yes I did but I wouldn't recommend it. I think I used a chain type filter wrench, it's possible to crack the plastic top though. Either that or I put it in a vice. I have the proper cup tool for them now. Hope this helps, please subscribe.
Great video very useful, one thing to note when you follow the link to bleed system under mat on passenger side, my car is a 2016 model and did not have it located here, I could not find it anywhere and eventually kept cranking and she fired up, be careful of battery going flat!!
@@phillipmalkin1169 I wouldn't advise it, you'll get absolutely covered in it. I think you would struggle to get the pipes and clips back on whilst trying to keep the filter upright.
Hey can this be done without removing the oil filter... I replaced the fuel filer last year but now I have a water in filer warning and only serviced the car last month... warning does not come on right away
