Great discussion. You "kids" are a nice couple. We just bought a 2nd home in Dixie Springs, I guess technically an extension of Hurricane, and we love this area. Access to stores in both Hurricane and the St George area is no different than the 15-20 minutes it takes to drive to your "local" Costco 10 miles away in a city like Las Vegas at rush hour. Or 1 mile in a city like LA. I'll take this any day. We've planned on retiring in SW Utah for many years because of our love of the area. And Hurricane is in that heart of that area. Your cons were unconvincing. But your pros were excellent and describe why this is a really great area in todays world especially.
Growing by leaps and bounds. Some of the roads in St. Geo are getting pretty rough. Riverside Drive all the way to Home Depot. 700 South all the way to the main hospital. There is a shortage of good grocery stores and a very few decent restaurants. No Trader Joe's, no Sprouts, or Whole Food. The traffic is pushed toward downtown. They build an entire city between Washington Fields and Bloomington Hills south of the Virgin River, but there are few basic services or stores.Cost of living is very high.
i lived in St George for 6 months. I lived in a trailer park near the inn and out burger. I wish i could find a little trailer in a park to live there again.
No pools, no clubhouse, no restaurant - no thanks If you are moving to St George a housing community with pools are necessary because of the hot summers to cool off without having to drive out of the community.
Can we re-title this video “Please move back to where you came from?” The desert that everyone loves will soon be completely paved with cement, soda drive thrus and car washes. I was born and raised here and watching what has happened and continues to happen is devastating. Who cares though?? $$$$$$, right? What a legacy to leave behind.

Nice ladies, I'm packing my stuff and on my way. I'm sick of the mess here in ca and need to escape the insanity. When i arrive should i just keep my mouth shut of where i came from...lol
Divario is such a beautiful development. Drove around there the other day and now I’m glad to have learned more information about the development! I’m glad there are multiple builders there, too since I think the Ence monopoly makes such boring homes. Thank you for sharing!
ST. GEORGE UTAH is nice - good if you are retired - self employed - work for the government ! Like the outdoors - shooting - off roading - hiking - CAMPING - 4 wheeling motorcycle riding and boating and jet sking at the lakes ! THE WEST IS THE BEST ! Close to zion and bryce national parks ! FUN TIMES !
Stay out of Sand Hollow reservoir. There are parasites in the water. Been there for years. Nothing dangerous but you'll have red blotchy skin and you'll itch for a while. The parasite, called cercarial is also called swimmer's itch.
People that move to these small towns, like living in small towns. The problem with out of state move ins and realtors is that it quickly changes the dynamics of these small towns ;) .
Oh no I'm moving to St George from Dallas in 34 days. Oh wait, it's way worse in Dallas with the humidity. So 110 will feel like spring to me. Difference is you can escape the heat in Utah. You can't in Texas.
Great video! Recently moved here and you guys touched on basically everything! But after about 8:08, your video sound chops out and comes back. Other than that, great video!
Dining options are fine Shopping are OK the deal breaker is alcohol even if I don't drink Because it may violate several ammendments of the us constitution but the outdoor activities may tip the scale the other direction
I have lived here all of my life basically. Houses are ridiculously high priced and the cost of living is now really high too. People on average don't make enough money to live here. The locals are being pushed out by transplants from California or Northern Utah mostly who are changing everything and not for the better. I am worried about the water supply and if we will have enough water for everyone.
Utah in general, you guys are actually lucky compared to us in SLC. Up here it's about 100k -200k more on average than St George. Were to the point where half a million buys you a little fixer upper in ghetto Mexico errr I mean West Valley City 😂
@@neo7759 Yeah West Valley, Magna, and Kearns are definitely some of the sketchier areas for sure in Northern Utah. I feel bad the air quality isn't the greatest up there. The nice thing is that there are better higher paying jobs in Northern Utah. I guess if you work remotely you can do ok down here too.
You guys are great🎉 I watch your different tours on St George and Hurricane. Unfortunately I can't buy a home, but I am on a few waiting lists for a senior apt. Thanks for all the cool excursions and hopefully, I can move from Idaho by next year. !!
Had this on my radar, thanks for sharing. I like your drivers seat format for the video intro, really get a sense of the area. QUESTION: Any single family units with RV garages? Also what are the HOA costs?
There are some single family residences with RV garages, but there aren't many in Desert Color itself. The dues in Desert Color are about $150 per month
Thank you for this information. We have been to St. George several times over the last six years. Unfortunately, this last year we found the lack of road infrastructure to be very difficult. It requires quite a bit of patience to wait and wait for lengthy lines of cars zooming by on winding, narrow main roads with too few stop lights. The lack of water is also a concern.
Great channel and I hope you keep it up with the videos. My question may seem like a minor thing, but do you find that most new homes in the St. George/Washington area are built with hardwood floors? I ask because, as a NY'er who plans on moving to the area within the next few years, I'm currently dealing with 40+ year old hardwood floors that squeak nonstop and it's an issue I never want to have to deal with again in what will likely be our "forever" home after we move to the area.
We originally looked for Presskit, but it's too close to the southern border..!! Rather be on the north side of that big hole in the ground.. 😅 Grand Canyon.. Looking now for a place...
Hi @stevehinton5300 ! Thanks for your input. Feel free to either give me a call/text at 435-962-2995 or email me at info@livinginstgeorgeutah.com so we can set up a tour of the greater St George region and arrange some showings of homes that fit your needs.
Previously a gas station on the way to Las Vegas, St.Geo doubled in population within 10 years. People move here for the great weather and relative safety. All the natural wonders can be basically seen with 4-5 visits. Many boomers are moving here.Tons of new clinics and medical services. The average distance to a limited choice grocery shopping is about 10 miles. South of Virgin River, there are $1 million+ priced new homes, but no services, no restaurants, no shopping, not even a gas station. Everybody is pushed into what basic services are available close to the center of town, and the I 15 highway corridor. Looking to move out.
