It’s funny - the world back in these times, things were simpler and people has less but were richer in many ways and happier. My grandad was a bit of a Fred Dibnah - could build and fix anything, was in happy behind any tool and had real practicable knowledge and hands on skill, and cut from good British stock - here in New Zealand men like Fred were common through the 70s/80s, but sadly this generation have faded out and we have the new generations of brainwashed, narsicistic, screen-ridden and completely hands-off era. We’ve gone backwards in the last 30 years in so many ways.
Love Fred and his personality, but it is hard to watch all this beautiful old work get destroyed, and think about the symbolism of all the change and the lost jobs
Fred makes me think of a highly successful hollywood actor who went method and then didn't know how to be anything else. You can see how much he loved his family, but you can also see at the same time how he's not really into it, or cut out for, family life.
National treasure Fred was and that system he made for the bricks was brilliant i suppose it's just like the way coal was wound up and down the shaft . 🇬🇧⚒️
after watching several of these, although it is fascinating, this man was clearly a narcissist. His family is like a burden to him. It was all about him.
The incredible series of films about Fred are TV magic. Fred, a master craftsman and his fabulous stories link us to the past like no other medium could. Incredible
My lass would never in a million years be pulling ladders up the side of a chimney in the pissing down rain...not a chance haha. His wife is very supportive of Fred haha.
I am so happy to have discovered Fred on RU-vid. This guy is so great, i have watched every video and series with him a couple times now. I just wish he was still around to know that the rest of the world has discovered his work. RIP
