I was part of the commissioning crew of the Trepang in 1970 as part of the sonar gang.. We lovingly called her the "Fickle Pickle". She was my first seagoing command and my first boat to qualify on. Made several trips under the ice and north Atlantic with her

Robert Johnson, sweet bike. I've got some 8 inch mini apes on my Harley. They're a little bit high for me. I love the bars on your bike. Do u know how high they come up? Can u tell me where u got them? Thanks in advance, and once again, beauty bike. Brings back old memories! :)

I just ordered one of these for my '76 shovelhead. Any secret to installing? Where did you install "extra" relay? Thanks!
@rchetj
@rchetj 4 года назад
Steve Baisden I bought a bosh relay at auto zone, it’s small! I used a small lithium ion battery so had room inside battery box! You just bump it an it starts! Have a 69 with solenoid and it is a big difference! You’ll love it!
@sbaisden100
@sbaisden100 4 года назад
Robert Johnson thanks! I’ll let you know how my install goes!
@sbaisden100
@sbaisden100 4 года назад
Robert Johnson I got the lever action solenoid installed! Truthfully a little annoyed with it but it is working good. I had to drill a hole and put a pin in it to get it to push the pinion gear back away from the clutch gear. I’m also a little worried the contact to the Bosch Relay will hold up over time. Also sad to bolt a Taiwanese made part to a USA made bike. All that said, it is working good and I like that I don’t have the unreliable solenoid anymore!

Lovely work that has created a beautiful bike. Usually objects are given female pronouns but the very masculine sound the old Brit bikes make these old bikes sound like a very angry male.

Cool Video. I especially like the photo in maneuvering of 3 EM's and 2 ET's. I can remember Dunkel, Wible (both EM) and Looney (ET). I forget the other two guys' name. This reminds me that I need to go get all my old photos and scan them in. Tim Willis EM3 (ss) 94-96

Robert Johnson Hey Robert, there seems to be some claim going around on the internet that you all may have seen something on board your vessel whilst in the area of Iceland and Jan Mayen Island in 1971... I know I'm completely overstepping by even asking, but can you clarify anything regarding this information? Here is a website reporting on it which includes pictures supposedly taken aboard the ship. www.theblackvault.com/casefiles/arctic-ufo-photographs-uss-trepang-ssn-674-march-1971/ Thanks for any info and thank you for your service.
