What kind of boats is usually used for this type of trick skiing? We have a 2003 master craft X2 but I feel like the wake is way too steep and wide for me to stay in control of my slalom skiing. I don’t really even like a huge wake for wakeboarding either and it looks like maybe you guys are still getting air through technique on not too huge of a wake, so maybe if my kids was interested in doing what u all do we could do it w something a little smaller than our 2003 mastercraft x2??? Hubby keeps adding more “tabs” to make it “more skiable” but it’s not looking to help it, really at all! 🤷🏻♀️ Sooooo, mamas ready to exchange ours to get back to slalom skiing (just need to heal up my shoulder and ACL now from surgeries this year! lol 😂).
I spent all my chilhood and teen holidays water skiing with friends from american military base in kingdom of morroco during the 60' and 70' ! That was my best life. I went twice in florida so please tell me if this is or not a free crocodile lake ?
Stupid to do the counter-cut to the ramp the boat should accelerate as fast as the skier wants it to go that would make for safer and farther jumps they want to hit the ramp going 65 or 70 mph but boats can drive that fast and that's how it should be done some guys will tell the boat to drive 75 mph or 80 mph then jumps would be a lot longer without the stupid counter-cut to the ramp it was never a good idea always crazy it never should have been needed.
Love that this popped up in my feed. I’m 65 yo now. I was addicted to this sport when I was in my 30’s. My personal best was 3@ 32 off. What these guys are doing is unreal. Side note: When I was 57 yo I took a friend up on a pull at his private slalom course, I went out at 30 MPH 15 off. OMG it was soooo freakin hard. I only had enough fitness to attempt 3 passes. I skipped the gates but guess how many passes I made of the 3? Yup, you guessed it, zero. Lol Best I could muster was 5 balls at 30 mph 15 off. But I gotta tell ya, it was awesome. I’m smiling as I type this. Phenomenal sport. Sad to see it die.
As a kid growing up in the late 70’s and 80’s on a lake in New England all I wanted to do was carve huge walls of water on a glass surface. Nothing looks cooler than a shimmering sunset through a tall and thick wall of cared water when done correctly. These people are incredible athletes!
A better way to compete would be speed thru the course where the boat can go as fast as the skier wants it to and the line can be say 50 feet long and fastest thru the course wins this would also be a better way for jumpers so they don't have to do that crazy angular cut towards the ramp just let the boat drive 65 mph or however fast the ski jumper wants it to go this way they can stay to the left of the boat it would make for longer safer jumps.
Have'nt watch this in a while... Andy Maple kicked ass for a decade or more, may he rest in peace. Need to let the left foot front go through the gates right to left!!!
