This is my personal RU-vid Channel, where I post test shots of CG work, personal videos, stuff about books, work in progress and other stuff that does not fit on my other channels.
man i *really* don't need this set but it's very tempting. i've got most of the paperbacks from way back in the day but they are in bad condition by now decades later.
Dont look at me to hold you back :P I can't stop spending money on books. I always tell myself that good books are an investment - and compare the budget to that of certain people's shoeshopping expenses... And then I feel justified :P haha.
Woah you never read them before and decided to just purchase the entire set? And in hardcover nonetheless? I guess if you're one of the few who prefers to read in hardcover that's fine, but seems like a very expensive gamble to me.
I kind of suspected that I would like them. And I also don't feel like hardcover books really lose their value (not that I would ever sell any of my books). :) I always choose to see it as an investment. :P
Well unless they're a first edition they instantly lose around 25% value after you bought them. I don't know anybody who will pay MSRP for 2nd hand books? Up to you of course, just seems like a completely unnecessary risk to me because the books certainly aren't for everybody. @@KevinGoehler
I noticed you have New Spring. Most seem to think that is best read between books 5 and 6. I finished the series long ago, and I absolutely loved it. I see this video was uploaded in December, 2021...so I'm guessing you've completed the journey.
Not quite there yet*. So I can still fit it in between 5 and 6. But I do actually tend to prefer to read books in publishing order. Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it when I get there :) *I got distracted by another series called Cradle, by Will Wight.
The Library is Architecture (with a capital A). The facade is a glorious collection of figures and Neo-Gothic details in perfect proportions. Commanding its setting in "Red Square" -- but the reading room is the true star. I always entered it as one would enter a cathedral. With reverence, awe and reassurance that human beings can actually make unexpectedly beautiful things. Thank you, Kevin, for sharing this with us. Your movie is a work of art too.
one day if i have the money i am going to try to source a set of hardcovers then get them rebound in leather. cost a few thousand bucks but this book series is my childhood, it would be worth it.
well careful with those books, not talking about the shipping damage. i have lost several of my wot books over the years due to covers falling off and chunks of pages breaking loose from the bindings. to a large extent i don't really blame tor although i don't think they do the best bindings these books are also huge and a 14 year old me wasn't the most gentle when reading. but they are notorious for falling apart after repeated re-reads.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll be extra careful with them from now on. My kid is not reading in english yet, so they might just survive. She's also fairly gentle - but my Harry Potter books (danish) have seen better days, come to think of it :P
They look gorgeous, unfortunately it is now selling at 925€ and not 450$...😭 It looks like much more convenient to get them separately at 500€! Great unboxing!
My god they’re gorgeous. All mine are used. I started with paperbacks. After The Lord of Chaos I started buying the Hardcovers. They’re cracked and tapped and old and smell great. But those are just beautiful. I need to find the hardcovers for the first set of my collection.
I didn’t realize the full series with the original artwork was still being made. I like the TOR paperbacks, but the original artwork hardcovers… BRAND NEW!? 😍 Very cool.
The print year is not in the books, but they are printed after Jordans death, so they can be no more than 15 years old - and they seem younger. But I don't know when they were printed, or if they still print them - but I didn't see the set a lot of places online, so I'm not sure they are still in print. 😊
@@joeymarchesi All of them says 1st edition inside. But they can't be printed in the 90s, because some of them have Robert's dates in them 1948-2007. So I'm guessing the 1st edition have been in print fairly long - at least until 10-15 years ago. But they might still be in print - I simply don't know :)
@@the37thagent31 hii do you know if its possible to get separate hardcovers cover for books? Like i dont know what to call it like you know customised dust jackets for hardcovers? Like whats it called and is it possible on websites or something
I bought all my hardcover editions from Amazon individually over a few months last year. I had to replace 3 of the 15 due to torn bindings or damaged pages. Totally worth the extra wait! Also, despite owning these books and going through a similar experience you’ve made this video quite suspenseful lol
Could you please give me the isbn of the eye of the world ? I have found all 15 in blackwells online and wanna make sure it is the same one but I guess is a reprint of them but the look great and is a need to have them 😊😊
Vivaz asked to see how the books look without the sleeves, so here's a quick comparison: www.dropbox.com/sh/vu50ktah3jdd0sh/AAB385dba49DeFIE1d2Ck9bca?dl=0
Interesting. I know without looking at mine that the original US version of Path of Daggers was much thicker than shown here. It was inflated in font size and page count. Here you can clearly see how it's shorter.
Me too actually. These are not too pretty that way though. Varying shades of blue paper. And like with the sleeves, the logos and titles are all over the place. I can take them off, and take a picture 😊
@@KevinGoehler I really appreciate you taking the time to take the pictures its a great help, so unusual how there seems to be absolutely no consistency between the spines or even the colour lol i do think i still prefer them without the covers for having a classier look than the multicolour, I think ill be picking these ones up though as they seem to be the best ones available, thanks again
@@vivazcrypto1154 No problem. I agree - it's strange that they have tried so many different layouts, colors and even fonts and the Tor logo are changing between each book.. 😅
As Time already said, it's computer animated. But you can get similar results with any DSLR camera og similar. Just make sure to use a lens with a low F-stop. A value of f/1.4 would give a similar look to this. Also, of course, lighting is important. Direct light (sun light), if you want to capture those dust particles floating in the air. :) Happy shooting.
