Thank you sweetie", (does that mean honey or cutie?i think: "darling" is said to the husband/wife, and sweetie to a friend?) because dont want to say something about love, or something like that.... just a casual word like "sweetie" like to a friend... somehow I remembered this word now :)in polish you can say "Sweetie" to a friend,..... older grandmothers in shops often say "kochanie" to me, and that's ok for me :) nice :) im generally like that, also call my son's friend "kochanie" :) because he's a little boy💙 :) so thank you Sweetie( i want to be nice because you said something nice to me about Poles ;)) for what you said at the end, it means a lot to me as a polish woman, yes,we are brave, intelligent, clever and we have the fortitude..💜💙. in fact, some people on the street have sad faces cause they have gone through a lot in their lifes. But I know a lot of cheerful and funny people, my family is cheerful and everyone is positive. My grandmother was born in 1939, during the war, and she remembers how the germans rode horses near their house, how they wanted to drink water at their house, how one time a german almost shot her father but she saved him because started crying loudly (and the german said: "If this baby wasn't here, you would be dead)..she went through hell, there was hunger, poverty and danger... then in communism she had to raise 5 children and there was almost nothing to eat.........now she is 85 years old and is a cheerfuland positive person who immediately dances when she hears music:) I know a lot of positive, cheerful poles :)

Please react to this song:"Mury" Mury" (Walls) was a sung poetry protest song written by Polish singer Jacek Kaczmarski in 1978. It was especially popular among the workers of Solidarity (NSZZ Solidarność) and is one of Kaczmarski's best known songs. It became a powerful symbol of the opposition to the communist regime in the People's Republic of Poland and was sung at countless rallies, meetings, protests and strikes throughout Poland during the 1980s. The lyrics for Mury were written in 1978 to the melody of the song L'Estaca by the Catalan singer Lluís Llach, which Kaczmarski heard on one of several Spanish records he borrowed from a friend in December of that year. The intention of Kaczmarski's lyrics was to examine how a song or poem can cease to become the 'property' of the author after it is 'stolen' by the masses, who may appropriate it for a particular cause even if it wasn't the author's intention in the first place. In this context, the song can be interpreted as supporting the Polish or Catalan struggle for independence, but also as a critique of certain aspects of mass social movements. Link to the song with english lyrics: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3at2qjKuOpU.htmlsi=sFELyZpLtMH1IO7a

Aaah, you have been to Gdansk and Westerplatte but you have not been to Hel peninsula... There was another Polish military station and navy harbour called Fortified Area HEL. Polish soldiers at Hel surrender on last evening of 2nd Oct'39 as last Polish military unit giving up their weapons. Pls check out later history of German battleship Schleswig-Holstein - you will be surprised what only 4x of heavy Polish guns from Hel were capable of...

Hi Rob, if you want to know what Poles could do when properly trained, properly equipped and properly fed with logistics (ammo, fuel, etc.) you have to get into history of 1st Armored Division of gen.Maczek - what they did to Germans at Falaise pocket plus how they perform for liberating Benelux cities - Gent, Hulst, Breda, Moerdijk, Tilburg - they are really famous among Dutch people there...

00:49 The first name of the city was "urbe/urbs Gyddanyzc", mentioned in 999, stammed from 997, which surely renders our contemporain name: Gdańsk. Allthought a fisher hamlet was probably there as soon as 7th century. It was a Samborian&Pomeranian trade place, under Polish rule. Gdańsk was robbed by the Germans (Teutonic Knights) in 1305 or 6, who were supposed to help us (Polish Crown) against other Germans from so called "Branderburg"("Branibor" in Czech). There was allegedly! an issue as to pay TK for their duty, but the fact is: Teutonic Knights murdered all the Polish population of Gdańsk, commiting genocide.

Westerplatte is still defending itself! - these words spoken by the Polish Radio announcer during the first September days of 1939 gave encouragement not only to Polish soldiers fighting the German troops on the front, but also to the entire Polish society. Every morning, Poles woke up and the first thing they did was turn on the radio to hear that Westerplatte was still defending itself!

That's all complicated. Polish western border is exactly the same now, as it was when Poland was first established a millenium ago. But since then, the "western" territories have gone through a lot of different phases, and a lot of germanisation- in some areas succesful, in others- completely unsuccesful. So in terms of Gdansk, it was a Polish city for a vast majority of history, but it usually had a big "German" population (in parentheses, because there wasn't something like "German national identity" until 18th century). But still, this "Germanised" city, hated Prussia and was aligning itself with Poland. The city literally voted to be part of Poland.

I will also add that we, humanists, have a harder time in life because there are more of us, there is more competition, we have to think harder to cope in life, (but thanks to this we are smarter ;)) there is less work for us,there are fewer of these "mathematicians" and they usually earn the most: engineers, scientists, technicians, IT specialists... but i dont care...im very happy to be a humanist ;)

Hej! i was looking for information on whether it is easier to learn to play instruments for humanists or for people with a scientific mind, and you know what...i couldnt find such information anywhere!!!, is there such a relationship AT ALL??in my case, the right hemisphere of the brain dominates... you look like a humanist to me, so do I! maybe its more difficult for humanists to learn to play instruments? "we are all the same" -of course,we just have different languages...whats more , we are all conected cause we come from one Source :)

Wogóle ja gdzieś 1/3 zabaw z czasów dzieciństwa spędziłam na zajęciach bardziej oldschool-owych typu gry planszowe, 1/3 przed ekranem a 1/3 na podwórku i włócząc się po okolicy. Rob, be sure to study the history of the Battle of Wizna. These are Polish Thermopylae. Less than a thousand defenders and 40,000 German soldiers. This story is described in the great hit Sabaton "40 to 1" - Clip: 40:1 - Bitwa pod Wizną - Sabaton History 001
