I am a Northwich born and bred gal, now 66! I haven't been to town for years because of my mobility. It does still look lovely, but like a ghost town,it was such a vibrant place to shop, sadly I think retailers have fallen prey to high rates maybe? I used to go to the Saturay morning flicks(The Plaza) for sixpence, oh my days,so many fond memories. Ty for staring this walk👍 ( maybe a walk around Marbury Park and Anderton boat lift) lots of History and ghostly tales to tell👻
Love❤Barmouth ❤. Ty for walking and sharing,as my mobility is rubbish, lovely views from the beautiful Church. I've always admired the superior position it is in when looking up from near the station, with the hills behind it,
Me and my sister really enjoyed your walk up Old Hill Fort and you came past our house on the way back, shame I missed you, would have made you a coffee or tea even a slice of cake, Keep up the good work, really enjoy your walk abouts
Well I liked seeing Hemel old town again, but. Your commentary was practically non exist-ant. you obviously know nothing about this historic stretch of road and have done no research into the street its buildings their history and previous uses and or the interesting businesses and caricters that occupied them You even missed some obvious things such as explaining about the well water pump, and that the hairdressers on the lower side of the street was used as the location for the external shots of the TV series "Pie in the sky" some of those buildings were very old pubs / coaching houses. nothing about the church or the old town hall. with the history this street contains you could have made a series of videos. All in all pretty poor.
@@1GameKeeper What you mention is not what I do . Stop moaning and find a film that ticks your boxes. I turn up on the day and see what I can see . I have had films used by national newspaper web sites . Musicians have used my videos in their promotions. Where can I find your films . Please just stop watching and give respect to the content creator . Please like and subscribe . Thank You
@@WalkingUK fine but I just thought I would comment since you made a video that had little or no content and was boring. Just shows what a low state journalism in the UK has sunk to
How nice to watch this video. 40 years ago I lived in Chesham Bois (close to The Beacon School) as an au-pair. Had a great time. Thanks for taking us on your walk. I enjoyed it.
Doesn’t look too bad that time of day , the suns out and it looks pretty clean and no gangs hanging around or homeless people which lets the town down. You should have done a tour of the arboretum it’s beautiful there .
That was the old Bootle town hall. Both of my parents recalled there being a life sized painting of the devil inside there when they went there on a school day visit around 1953. They were at different schools and in a different year. The painting is no longer there. What a strange painting to have. Evil.
JUNK SHOP 😂 things in that antique shop are probably worth more than our Ikea or wayfair furniture. That antique shop holds auctions and has been apart of Barmouth for many many years . I grew up here and I’m 50 and iv always known it to be there .
What the hell have they done to the city? It's as if the soul of the city was sucked out, and these dreadful buildings put in place to torment the poor citizens. Derby was a very busy town when I lived there almost sixty years ago. Not so today.
Tamworth is a Market town with a population of 60K+, in the 60's & 70's ( The prefab decade ) it went on an demolishing fase, loosing a number of old buildings. These vwere replaced with the Co op main store & the Midle Entry. @ 5:00 the Super News news agents & shops round the corner are now gone, been demolished as part of a rebuild. Also the CO OP main store in church street is gone. @ 6:06 the Statue is of Sir Robert Peel who came up with the idea of the Police, in front of Tamworth Town hall. @ 6:25 Tamworth Tap awarded best real ale pub of the year 2023. @ 10:23 Tamworth castle with 2 ghosts. @ 14:21 The light House pub used to be the Electric show rooms in the 60's, with a air rade siren on top, scare the shites out of me when it sounded. @ 14:57 The Colin Grazier Hotel used to be the Police station in the 60's. Barclays shut down now. @ 16:00 Co op main store now demolished. : 20:31 The Old Stone Cross, Mick Jager (Stones) was said to of been banned from here in the 60's for peeing up the bar, ban now lifted in the 90's. LOL. @ 29:00 & 29:25 Tamworth Court House now closed, & Tamworth Police station. @ 30:17 used to be a school here, demolished for court house & cop shop decades ago. @ 31:25 is Albert Rd, named after the visit of Queen Victoria, the street you started at is Victoria Rd, built to recieve the queen from Tamworth Rail station. @ 34:54 the site of the Bell Inn & Ladies of the night, demolished in the 60's.
It's a half closed tip atm, I only went to meet a friend last week who moved away to New Zealand 30 years ago. She cant believe how much it's changed for the worse. I stay away unless I have to go into town, most of what I need is out of town now!
The town has become worse very depressing cheap goods that politicians wouldn't eat, and clothing ie primark that even the homeless refuse to wear sad times 😢
