Something that's just now striking me now that I have more knowledge of the lore... why in the MW3 intro do the Innies have Vultures, a Clan heavymech?
That Mechwarrior 2 cinematic is still the best of the bunch, as much as I enjoy the live action scenes from games of the time (notably C&C) they felt just a little too hammy. The very first cinematic we got from Piranha that was initially suppose to be MW5 was also really good, man was I ever stoked for a new Mechwarrior game but ultimately disappointed that it turned into MWO. MW5 Mercs is fine but sandbox games just don't hit the same as story driven games do, here's to hoping MW5 Clans delivers.
MechWarrior 4 Vengeance intro has by far the best visuals, and is also the ONLY one that actually shows the machines shifting their weight to walk fairly realistically. All other MechWarrior games and cinematics violate the willing suspension of disbelief by having them walk stiffly & robotically as if gravity didn't affect them. It's such a small detail, but you can't unsee it once you notice, and it instantly breaks immersion if it's missing. It also has pretty lousy & illogical writing, but that's par for all the other cinematics.
13:40 - This was my intro into the series and ever since I have been a huge fan of Battletech/Mechwarrior. MW3 had a great intro. Really sold the vibe. Kind of ironic though that a Vulture (or mad dog) says's 'die clanner' while piloting an exclusively clan mech.
The best cutscene I've ever seen is the initial video of Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance. Sure it's a little cheesy but it is so immersive too, and I cared more about those characters in a few minutes than I did of anyone in Mechwarrior 5 which I played I don't know how many hours of... It'd be cool AF if they returned to that style in the next game.
The Inner Sphere It is exploding Mechs are stomping Bullets loading You took out all your heatsinks Making room for missile boating You say that mech's for urban warfare So what's that nuke youre toting? Even Solaris 7's orbit has bodies floating And you tell me Over and over and over again My friend How you don't believe We're on the eve of destruction
I don't recall seeing the first clip in this video for MW3, the second clip with the trooper in the tank watching the mech get popped is the one that always played when I started the game. Is the first clip a fan edit?
This is absolutely mind blowing, especially given that it's apparently from 2006, those computer effects are absolutely gorgeous. They look a little dated now, but for something that's almost 20 years old, that CGI is work is insane.
Ugg the worst atlas, atlas 3. Definitely seen better production from folks with mor vision. Such as the old mechwarior 4 cutscene, as well as the battlepod cutscene. These folks rush through thier lines or have a bad director. CGI, was good. But I’m here for the history Yes Thunderfox, no idea what the tall clan mechs are ment to be.
Jackalopes are the smaller ones, double gun one the Battlemaster does in is a Mangonel, and Anastasia was in a Mad Cat Mk IV, which is a return to the old 75 ton Heavy of its ancestor, with much the same loadout, though upgraded with newer tech.
that is the Super Nintendo game being used as the first mechwarrior instead of the 1989 PC game, but thats ok :P. I played the original 1989 game so much when i was a kid. then a few years later heard a Mechwarrior 2 was coming!??. And when i saw that mechwarrior 2 intro for the first time when the game first came out, i felt like my life was complete lol. /thumbsup
how many versions of 3s intro do you think they did? that dearmed thor getting face clapped doesn't make sense, also doesn't match the other video shown
The mechcommander into, its all too realistic when he says turn, then has to tell him again TAKE THE TURN! Lmao i find myself yelling at them too when they stumble around not going where told lmao
He had to run away. Who wants to be known as the Atlas pilot taken out by Urbies? Sure, he was outnumbered 10-1, but do you think anyone will mention that? Nah, it'll be all, "Ooh, watch out, you can't send Steve on this mission. There might be URBANMECHS! High-five!"
