Well my friend, what my dad and I use is a butter knife with swivels on either end and treble hook. Better then that expensive crap.just saying. Pulling up 35lb + fish
I don't know if you still have this boat, but all those cracks around the transom are caused by severe rot in the wood coring of the boat. The stringers are probably the same way. If you land hard you could split the hull and sink it. I hope you have a new safe boat by now.
A lot of guys here have a distaste for greenling here, say they are mushy and don’t like the fact they count as part of your daily rockfish limit. Kept one once and it wasn’t a bad beer batter fillet.
Oh yeah. Used to catch them on the south side of Fidalgo Head, just out of Skyline marina. Used squid as bait, and fished along "the wall". Not big, but battered up and deep fried, great taste.
Good video. I have to admit that the Scotty puller is not something I would buy. As a "senior" not having the puller lift the pots higher is a big deal. I like your line reel, it is a better one than mine, where did you get it and how many 400' lines will it hold? Already looking forward to next year!
Don’t forget, after brining let it dry on the counter by airflow (window or fan) for 2 hours to form a pellicle. It’s a tacky layer that helps the Smokey flavor stick and will prevent the white proteins from coming to the surface.
Yes I agree, I tried both ways of waiting and drying or going strait in the smoker and I decided that it wasn’t that much of a difference for me. But it’s a great method if you like to make it perfect ;)
Hello from Vancouver BC , do you have closers for Shrimp in Washington State ? In BC Shrimping is open year round , And Spot Prawns start around May and last only up to around Six to eight weeks ,,, I grew up in Victoria we use to Catch shrimp right off the Docks , And Rocky shorelines back in the 1970s , I believe they still do , sadly we can’t do that in the Metro Vancouver area Shrimping is bad from the docks and shore Here unless you have a boat ,
Spot prawns are closed almost all the time here in Washington. 1-2 days per year in most areas, areas 7 west and 6 tend to be open maybe 8 days per year.
