Welcome to FarmerTorque in 2022. Check out which playlist to choose a beautiful video - 'Chill with a glass' or maybe Tarmac Trails - why not discover Exmoor with your host Chris. Fabulous footage, lovely music, just make shure you have got that glass 🥂👍😊...Cheers 😃
Super kind words Jerry, thank you. Truth be told, I've had this potential bike - A quality, naked long travel suspension machine in my head for a long time. Honeymoon period at the moment but very much look forward to riding the thing ! Cheers my good man 🍻
i looked at the R9T platform ..not for me , i got the Triumph scrambler 1200Xe instead which i sold last year , and i bitterly regret it now ..also i think i’m gonna disagree about the tech on modern bikes , because unless i’m missing something i’ve set it up once and basically i don’t t ouch it again ..i’ve got the new 1300 GS and its an absolute dream .
@@gerryryan2302 - interesting to hear Gerry. As you may know I lived with a 1200xe as a project for 18 months, so know that bike very well. I liked it a lot. For me, with this route I’m following is immensely rewarding. We’re all different and I’ll politely agree to disagree on the menus etc of the latest (I’ve ridden most) But, bottom line, if your enjoying the 1300, fill your boots 👍😊
I think all bikes, even the great ones, are at best only 9/10ths there and we as bikers accept it willingly, why? Because oh boy do we like to tinker and make it our own, the "every mans" bike suits no one. It may not be perfect but it's perfect for me as they say.
@@DKR-1881 - Yes it is (I should mention that more) atm it’s 70mm higher, but there’s some fine tuning on the way, that I’ll report. I find it ok cos it’s so much lighter than a GS but you make a very fair point 👍
Just wondering 💭 what is the problem with the standard suspension, & is it really bad, am considering one, with no off road riding just spirited on road, any ones input welcome 👍
@@WheelieGood-el2br - Hi there, by any standard you care to mention, the standard suspension is pretty awful (I’d hoped the 21 spec onwards would be better, but no) Quite a few go with the Willbers improved rear shock and I’m sure it will be a useful improvement. Trouble is the front is poor ( which is why Wilbers offer the full fat conversion) Any more questions, please ask 👍
That is such a shame, oh well can’t budget 3 grand upgrading the suspenders, so back to a scrambler 1200xe maybe, anyway thank you for the reply & your thoughts, cheers 🎉
Great improvements (all of which it has always amazed me BMW didn't do as standard or AT LEAST offer as options!!) What planet are their designers / marketing bods on these days?! I put bar risers / backs on everything. GS/GSA (of all era), S1000R, etc. The key is to fit the ones which go up AND back and to pivot the handlebars as far towards you as possible without the levers facing the sky and brake fluid going everywhere! :-) That makes it optimum for road use. I think the Urban GS model is probably an easier start with all the above? Think the handlebars on the Urban GS are slightly more generous? Either way, that's the one I would 'modify', but BMW should have got this right in the first place! They could have offered the standard one (as is) for shorter riders and 'budget' option and then a sexed up version with plush suspension and better ergos etc. Anyway, well done for seeing it through.
@@lb1672 - Great to get your thoughts and I agree with all your points re BMW - just crazy. I should have said - my bar risers do bring them closer to me - that seem very comfortable indeed. I will engineer the pegs to go a bit lower and it will be perfect. Overall tho, I’m really happy with the result - probably the nicest bike I’ve ever ridden. Cheers 🍻
@@FarmerTorque Great news. It is also amazing that BMW STILL didn't fix these issues even on the very latest refreshed model (which also doesn't look as good as the earlier ones)!
@@lb1672 that’s interesting 🧐 and no, the new ones don’t look as good do they 😳 if BMW had produced a bike similar to mine now I believe it would have sold very well - Hey Ho !
Good morning to you from Greenville, South Carolina!! Now that I have recently discovered your website I am in love with all your videos 🥰 The photography, the landscape, all the animals...especially the sheep & lambs, and I thank you so much for sharing the video and music with the playful lambs. I sent that particular video to two of my littlest great-grandsons (2 yrs old) who can't stop watching the sweet little playful lambs running & jumping, and the music with it is perfect!! This world needs more people like you, and I am so glad I found your website! PS: I've been eating toast w/butter & peanut butter, every single day since my sweet grandmother first introduced that concept to me, and I attribute my 83 years of good health to that breakfast!! It's so good to know you!
@@FarmerTorque would you say the bmw is a better bike. I think the beemer is more of a looker than the triumph but if it ends up on its side the cylinder heads will get damage
@@michaelgodliman436 - I think this is one of the best looking bikes ever, but don’t ask me, ask the hundred or so that have told me 😳 Yes you could damage the engine but I like the fact that my legs are behind it for weather protection
Hi chris....having had 2many bikes over the years agree totally if the suspension is poo no matter how good bike is it has to go..... past bad sussies have been....boneville 900....tracer 700....street triple675.....but considering values my 1050xt vstrom himalayan 411....and gen one vstrom 650.. .where or are brilliant.. Its not because of handling ....ride over our poor roads around nearly everywhere now its the comfort. .. of coarse its personnel......good health sir and comfy motorcycling 😂😂😂
This is what BMW should have offered in the first place , higher better suspension ! I believe they are planning one in the future ! Lovely B&W shots towards the end .
@@kseth6992 - Completely agree! German engineering is usually superb but on almost every product they manage to trip over their shoe laces to a lesser, or as here, greater extent (although I suspect this one is down to the bean counters 🙄) Considering the purchase price there’s no excuse Reckon I’ll have a dream bike in the end tho 😊
I own a 2021 model, the suspension is okay, but its just like any other bike nowadays, okay for road use but if you push it ? it does get out of hand. Its a lot of money to spend!. Most riders don't even know how to set there suspension up even when there have full adjustable suspension. I am going to upgrade the shock and put thicker oil and uprated the front spring in the front in the winter to see if that make a difference.
@@davidellis5964 - Really good to get your thoughts David and you make some good points. It’s because the bike is so good in just about every other area that encouraged me to go this way - I’ll repeat the money side of things was definitely an issue, but hey Ho 🙄 Hope your mods work for you 👍
Really glad your enjoying the Scrambler Chris...quite an investment but what price the enjoyment of a great bike around the lanes! I thought of you on Thursday, i had to go to Noss Moy, near Plymouth . I went on the T7 and every time i hit a pot hole on the Devon lanes i thought of your suspension project!! Look forward to seeing more of the upgrades. Cheers Steve
Pleased you went for the Wilber’s, night and day difference and now you can dial it in. Best thing I did to my one, love the bike all the more, feel more connected to it etc etc.
@@marcusrichardson3472 - Have to say the price did delay the decision 🙄 But like you Marcus, really happy with it. I’m looking forward to more bits and pieces 😊 More importantly, enjoying rides 👍
Tip ..whenever you have to tell anyone your weight for suspension ,, minus 25kg your actual..and say you always wear a suit of armour when riding that weighs approx 25kg
Great to see you with the new, or not so new bike, do like the older style to the new one. Enjoy the other stuff but did you biking content, enjoy making it your own.
Not a lot to not like about that bike Chris, Looks are very nice and the front mudguard (fender :) ) is form over function though, but it's not a bike your going to take out on the muddy roads I suppose :)
Great to hear from you Sandy, you can probably tell, slightly relieved but very happy to get over this suspension hurdle. It’s now well and truly a project 😊 Your spot on about the front fender and is on the list to be, err, replaced 👍 Cheers my good man 🍻
The kubota F3680 is a great machine. We run a 72 inch side discharge mower and in the winter a 60 inch plow for sidewalks. The machine with loaded tires handles inclines very well and leaves a good grass cut. Plus the F3680 has an older diesel basically bulletproof engine.
I enjoyed the video so very much...my last name is Huckobey, from the US, so I was curious about the Huccaby name you mentioned. Keep up the great work(play, I suppose). Ciao from Minnesota!
Excellent video,, I have a farm that my son is on, very hilly, we also have to be careful how we eject the bales,, or it'll be through the fence and into the brush.😮 He has the 504 pro Vermeer version of the 4160. Good balers.
Just wondering Sir, if you had the option which bike would you choose, the bmw scram or the triumph 1200 scram, only asking because these two or the urban gs will be my next bike 👍
Such a difficult question because of personal preferences ! If the BMW had good suspension (possible aftermarket) then it is the best bike and probably the one I'd own longterm - build quality is better too. I want to go back to an adventure bike so won't be keeping mine, but have enjoyed both bikes a lot
