Be interesting to know why the Devs went down the path of associating both file types to open this way considering its a trivial task to not associate the zipped file in this matter....
I'm sure it was to make it easier for new folks coming into the hobby. This week's release has updated the icon for the zipfile so it won't look like the xLights sequence file.
These are static sequences. So you can run these before and after your show. This is not a very accurate way of describing what is mechanically going on. Its so much simpler than this and ignores how important blending is and how belending is not based on the buffers but based on the nodes mapped into the buffers. This priority notion is silly and not real. All that blend between models does is put any groups containing the same nodes essentially as layers underneath the model for those common nodes only. When layer blending between models is not on the bottom layer of the model does not blend with anything thus totally ignoring anything other models may have put in those nodes.
Love tip 1. For $80. I got my laptop to extend to my 50 inch tv in my man cave and a 20 inch monitor. Cloud rules! I back up everthing on cloud and multiple drives and usb. I do the same for family photos. Gamer mouses rule. After the first hour you find out that you get what you pay for. Great video.
Thanks Clyde! I really love the tip at 19:27. One tip I'd really love to see is how to move multiple effects to different models. I can disable render and move one effect at a time or create custom timing marks for each move. Any tips to make this much more efficient is appreciated.
This was very timely. I have a new Showstopper Spinner for my new show and noticed some of the submodels weren't doing what I thought they would. Now I can go in and investigate.
I'm in the process of getting my Tetra2Go set up for my permanent soffit lighting and Jason has provided some fantastic customer support! Looking forward to integrating this into my show this year (the first!).
Really the user interface needs a lot of work. It's a bit of a "hoge podge" of things that just "work". Rather than being laid out for the most efficient and user friendly experience. From what you explained, it would really benefit from a context menu, like in MS word, when you paste something you get a little extra menu to select how it should paste. But disappears after you continue to work.
Thst spinner should be shrunk. 192x192 is way too much.. right click shrink by 50%, it will still look great and reduce your render time since the render buffer is reduced... heck...that actually doesn't even need to be a custom model. should be able to use native spinner
True you can shrink them down. Here is a video that shows where to shrink the model down. Then you have to save and export the model. Go back into the matrix or mega tree submodel dialog. It was too much information to show in a video that already was 25+ minutes long. These are static sequences, not synced to music. Useful for a social media, picture taking moment. It's one way to let your animated show become static during your off-hours. You can always add music to them if you like :) Sequencing segments are 30 seconds in length.

All I see between [here] and [here] is your head - which, although a perfect example of a many man's shave pate... didn't actually help. :P But, it's cool - I actually learned a bit about why it's so frustrating to do this - I never understood why stuff never comes out the way I want when I do it, and I mostly just end up going in by hand and moving stuff around - which IS SUPER ANNOYING.
