I enjoy photography, videography and occasionally buying new toys such as cameras and bikes...middle age thing I reckon but hey ho it keeps me smiling!
I have just discovered the power of the drone, I purchased the DJI Mavic Air and wow its fantastic, who would of thought that this sort of technology is available to almost everyone.
Thanks for taking time to stop by and watching my videos, hope you enjoyed and will come back for more.
Very well stated i couldn't agree more, i've done 60.000 km's on my 250 Rally, spent a week on a rental 300 Rally in Chiang Mai and yes, what a brilliant bike, and i'll be picking mine up this week from the dealer, its just amazing that 4 years after its introduction this bike is still the talk by motor cyclist worldwide, it reminds me to the days of the Yamaha XT 500, back then also in a class of its own, nice video, greetings from Thailand👍
Hi, many thanks for your comment. They are absolutely brilliant bikes as you can use them for everything, trails, commuting and touring. How are you enjoying yours? Cheers Shane 👍🏻
@@MrSTAdventures Hi Shane, i'm still braking in the engine, but the bike already performs better than i was expecting, suspension stiffer now, and no need to downshift anymore when passing cars, i will let you know in 200 km's👍👍
Hi mate another lovely trip out, you've got some good gear there as well, very impressed with the bottle of vino😊 just what's required for a good chill out.
By sheer conincodence I motocamped at the same campsite (I was pitched about 10m to the left of where you were) when I was doing some of the Land Marks on The Round Britain Rally, a great campsite indeed. What are your views on the AS Gloves? Usable all year round? DO they offer enpugh protection or is it comfort over protection? Cheers 👍
Hiya, the AS gloves are great for off road, superbly comfortable and dry out in no time if wet. Would I choose them for road work, that would depend on the journey, distance, speed etc due to the lack of pam protection. My go to road glove are Knox, again they are really comfy and they also give superb protection. I think AS do make a more road going version so it may be worth having a look at their website, I can tell you that AS products are really well made.
Definitely the life insurance Shane 😂🤣 looks like you had a good time regardless of the weather buddy, turned out nice, that farm place you were at looks great, looking forward to seeing you again mate, hopefully won’t be long till I do, Aaron loves your videos 👍🏼
Hi Mark, well she is out of luck 😂 I see you have had some great news with Arron and hey your daughter as well, congratulations to all. Looking forward to seeing you as well mate, hopefully before LWA next year 👍🏻
Cheers Curt, it certainly works well for me. I need to change out thew winter sleeping bag for one that is smaller as it takes up almost half the space in one of the leg bags. How's the Suzuki coming along, all sorted yet? 👍🏻
@@MrSTAdventures Yeah mate finally received the parts that have been on back order so I’ll be hanging off the spanners over the next week or so to get it sorted👍
Cheers Gareth, it was absolutely brilliant. racking little campsites, maybe this is somewhere we can all go for a couple of nights at some point next year as it's local to all of us. Yes, we will have to catch up soon, maybe grab some lunch 👍🏻
Thanks Phil, I called Rally Raid a couple of days ago re upgrading the front and rear suspension, for the alone it’s going to set me back roughly $3150 AUD but as she’s a long term keeper I reckon she’s worth it. Regarding doing a Shonky Sean level 4 upgrade which I am sure has transformed his Rally into a powerhouse I can’t see me bothering as I reckon you’ll be into 450 territory with the service intervals. 👍🏻
So true your honest review I have just passed 11000miles on my CRF Rally and she has run smooth as silk every mile.I used to have a T7rally and it was way to top heavy but my Honda is near perfect all rounder
Hi Ian, many thanks, they are a fantastic machine and at the price I think they are great value for money. Totally agree with you re the T7's and the like. I looked at all sorts before pulling the trigger on the Rally and there was nothing that came near it unless you spend twice as much and have the pain of servicing it every 1800 miles with oil changes every 600. Unless Honda bring out something along the lines of a 450 Rally with the same servicing intervals of the 300 I won't be changing her. Many thanks again for watching and leaving a comment. 👍🏻
Hi mate , from Australia I sold my rally and bought a Trans Alp , believe me I wish I could have managed to hang onto the Rally as well. The relative lightweight of the Rally was so reassuring when riding solo. The 750 TA in Australia is the 92 HP version and it has some poke . But you know the most fun I had was pushing the rally through some bitumen back road twisties , one thing no one mentions , is that on the rally you can really move your body when setting up for corners , and the ergonomics standing up were brilliant (5ft 8 28 inch inseam). Your audio is brilliant both on bike and off bike , could you share your set up? You have a good engaging voice , hope to see more videos
Hi mate and many thanks, before I bought the Rally I had the big adventure bikes, GS, GSA and the Africa Twin which are way too heavy for my skill level off road, great touring mile munchers but that's about it in my opinion. The Rally for me is a permanent grin maker, she's not perfect by any means but she's a bit like an old Land Rover, not fast but will take you anywhere. Re the audio I will do a video on it as it will be easier than trying to explain it. 😀👍🏻
Bloody excellent video Shane, you had a fantastic day for it, nicely put together & every word clear & precise, you'll be a top notch RU-vidr soon, I will definitely be coming down to go on those lanes soon as I get the car hitched & trailer sorted, hopefully by summer 2025, way too long a journey for me on the CRF..... stay safe buddy 👍
Nice video. I just purchased a Hood TB for my T7. I've ran a Nomad, several Giant Loop TB's, and an old Tourmaster bag for years before the ADV thing. Like you, my weather can be wet for months and figured I'd like to try the Hood with it's one snap opening. Giant Loop made me a fan of the big tub style of bag.
The tub bag is brilliant for my needs, one snap to open, easy to fit and remove and hey when it’s secured it’s not coming off. Thanks for watching and leaving the nice comment, much appreciated 👍🏻
Cheers Julian, I absolutely love the little Rally, haven't had so much fun on a bike since the 1980's, miles of smiles and laughter especially when mixed with the trails in Derbyshire, can't wait to get back up there. Cheers for watching 👍🏻
You have made an excellent purchase Dave, before I bought the Rally I had a look and test ride of several different machines including the Huskys, the T7 and the Tuareg and they are all cracking bikes however for me Rally ticked nearly all of the boxes. I liken it to an old Land Rover, its not the fastest, its not the lightest and its not the most comfortable but it will take you virtually anywhere. If you are prepared to spend a few quid on her ie suspension etc you will have in my opinion one of the best bikes out there. 👍🏻
Its a bit more severe than it looks, I was alright the first time I went up it in the morning but by the time I did it the afternoon I was cream crackered 😂 Have to say though its a cracking part of the world up there, so many trails to choose from compared to where I live on the south coast. Did you come to the LWA Festival?
Cheers Curt, it really was brilliant fun mate. The Festival was superb, great atmosphere mixed with great folks and a few beers and then the trails during the day, compared to where I live Derbyshire is Trail Heaven. Andy hey you are right re the minor spills, it all adds to the fun. 😂 Where are you off to next? 👍🏻
Great review and endorsement of the festival, nice to have met you, glad youve got the trail riding bug, remember if you fancy a trail ride in the Yorkshire dales or Lancashire, lake district, you're welcome to stay at mine for the weekend 👍
Cheers Neil and ditto, I am hooked on the Trail riding now, can't get enough of it. I am going to have to find some more of them down here on the South Coast. Thank you very much for the offer and hey I may take you up on it at some point. Are you going to be at next years LWA Fest?
Yeh mate might be 7 hours but you can still have some fun on the way. I'm heading off to a biannual rally in a couple of weeks which is about 650km and 7 hours approx away. Cheers
Great video Shane, I'm a little disappointed with myself for not making the ride, however it would have ended up a hospital case if I went 😂😅, glad you had a good time, in the middle of getting things sorted for pain management, still NO more camping for me, better being cautious than going through that again, I'm now in training to strengthen things up😉, was great meeting you and Shaun, right pair of comedians 🤣😂, take care 👍
Hey up Mark, thank you. To be honest you did the right thing by not coming on the ride, I reckon it would have blown your knee out and that wouldn't have been good as you had that long ride home. Hopefully next year you will be in a much better position to be able to join us on the trails. 👍🏻
Nice one shane and well done. I do all those lanes regularly as it's my playground. Hopefully I'll be back on it for next year and I'll take you out along with the fatty pigeon 🤪
Cheers Mark, you are so lucky to have this area as your playground, I loved it and shall be returning to do more. It must be driving you up the wall not being able to get out on the bike, fingers crossed it won't be for too much longer. Looking forward to riding with you next year, hopefully the Fatty Pigeon will be able to join us 😂 👍🏻
@@MrSTAdventures defo mate, well once I'm riding again I may come down see you if I'm I voted. Be it I won't be able to do any really hard off road for a while
Cheers Phil, I absolutely loved it, great scenery, great folks and great rides. It was fantastic to challenge myself on the bike, still shed loads to learn but hey I will get there. I wish this area of the country was a lot closer to me as it's just over 400km away from where I live on the South Coast. I did suggest to Kim (my wife) that we sell up and move up there but she wasn't having it 😂👍🏻
I have suggested to the wife that we sell up on the South Coast and move up North but she isn't having it. I reckon I shall invest in a bike trailer and try to visit these places a bit more often as there is nothing like this in Sussex. 👍🏻
Cheers Ralph, absolutely loved it. It reminded me a bit of the time when we was going down that mountain in Crete with Willie Walsham back in the early 90's. Happy days mate 👍🏻
Cor, that is a lot more overgrown and drier than when I last went along there! 😀 It is a cracking lane, and well worth finishing, but yes, you'll want better tyres, I last did it on my enduro bike, I'll not even consider riding it on my Aprilia Tuareg 660 if it has been wet, super slimy on that corner where you turned around and is quite boggy further along it too.. def one for proper tyres or a dry spell.
It was such good fun and yeah I am going to do the entire route when I get new boots and a spare hour or two. How's there new machine going, I bet you haven't stopped grinning from ear to ear since you picked her up 👍🏻
Instead of worrying about content, and making sure you're talking all the time, just take all the cameras and crap off the bike, relocate your phone so you have clear view ahead, and go out and ride, preferably with at least one other person.
You will be astonished at the amount of skill and knowledge you can glean from your local dirtbiking community, and just how willing they will be to pass that all on, with some laughs and giggles. We all started somewhere like this. Have a look around for events, ride days, clubs in your area , its much more fun learning with a safety net of other riders and everyone laughing at each other. I wager you will find them all most welcoming and willing to assist and share tips, and your skill level will increase exponentially. You will be just fine 👍
Hi and thanks for your lovely comment. Im just about to rejoin the TRF for the reasons you mentioned. Ive been on bikes since I was 6 and even ran ed them for over ten years but this discipline is new to me and its a bit of a steep learning curve but I am enjoying every moment of it. Hopefully over the next few videos you will see some improvements in my riding 😀👍🏻
😂 sorry for having a little giggle at your wee mishap, it happens to us all Shane, and as you say in this, it will happen again, enjoyed watching this, see you hopefully soon at the festival matey, in the meantime take care 👍
As you know Ive been riding for 54 years now and it happens every now and then, all I could do was have a good laugh at myself and get back on the bike and carry on. Look forward to seeing you at the LWA festival 👍🏻
1st of your vids, enjoyed it, that's my ideal sort of trail, I've had mine 2 and half years years and can't find anything better, Yes there are faster, lighter, cheaper, better at something or other bikes but nothing is as good at everything..IMHO 😅. Enjoy, and thank you for sharing the beautiful scenery.
Hi Steve, many thanks indeed and my pleasure. Agreed, there are faster and lighter machines out there but for the money in my opinion you can't go wrong with the Honda. And of course with Honda you get that built in reliability which certain other manufacturers do not have.
Join the TRF and do some group rides Riding with others is safer and will give you the stretch to do things you would be too cautious to do on your own 👍
Thanks for the tip, it's something I keep meaning to do. I was a member of the TRF a few years ago but changes in circumstances wouldn't allow me to get out as much as I would like to. Just had a look and subscribed to your channel, you have got some cracking lanes where you are. 👍🏻
Awesome mate, nothing like live music. We are going to see The Jesus and Mary Chain next month and maybe The Chuch a bit later in the year. Do you know their music ?
It was a brilliant evening, live music is the best. Ive been so lucky to see many great bands over the years and with every time I get a huge buzz from it. The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Church were big over here in the 80's, remember them well. The 80's was such a fantastic time for music, so much so that's the only radio station I listen to in the car 😂
It’s lovely up there isn’t it. The Horse Box coffee shop does a cracking coffee and granola bar. How’s the new bike doing, she’s stunning mate, enjoy 👍🏻
