If the three lions on an England shirt represented English international footballers throughout our footballing history, Sir Bobby would be my first choice. A Lion King. RIP
I was a young teenager when Bobby Charlton was in his pomp . No TV coverage to speak of. Black and white match of the day started in around 1965. And, although I've never been a serious Man U fan,to be fair, they were the only game in town. Best, Charlton and law used to add 10,000 to the gates home gates when they rolled up. In all my years watching football I've never ever come across a player with a powerful booming shot in both feet. Never. He was deceptively quick. Great acceleration. He'd have had no problem adapting to the high pressing mid field role of today. In his day,he was supremely fit. With Best Charlton and law it was a golden era, not just for man U, but they cast their stardust over the whole game in this country. And,in all his time , amazingly,he was never seriously injured. What a legecy of spectacular, brilliant goals for club and country he's bequeathed us. Absolutely brilliant.
Arguably the greatest english player of all time winner of the bal,on dor the world cup ,the european cup is testimony enough , but to achieve these feats after the trauma of the munich disaster is the real cementing of his legend.
What made him so very , very special? Let's see now. A tremendous shot, and this is so so rare. With either foot. I've watched football avidly for 50 odd years and I can honestly say no other player could do this. It's an incredible skill. He had real pace and acceleration, gliding past players easily. He had dignity, immensely modest. Celebrating wasn't his bag, now and again he forgot and indulged himself when it was a real cracker jack though. Every week Man U were the hot ticket. Bests dazzling dribbling, balance and finishing, law's superb goal poaching and Bobby's spectacular shooting. You couldn't go wrong. Today,on these snooker table pitches the lighter ball, he'd have been even better. It's frightening to contemplate how brilliant he would be today. What memories he leaves me with. Never tire of watching old footage of the great man. And, renowned the world over as not just a great ambassador as a player,he carried himself as a man equally well. Absollutely brilliant.
He was my idol of the day bar none .... Bobby is Manchester United, he is the benchmark of what is required, always was, still is ...............I loved you Bobby! Thanks for being there !
He was my hero when I was playing as a kid. I started in 1957 as a 7 year old went through to 1997. A legend never to be forgotten. There was a certain magic around the Busby Babes being how they were so invincible.
Yea togh player’s togh times legendary Bob hmm. You see any players in 2023 ? With such love to just play ? Forget the money and fame ?? I don’t think so
Bom dia, Deus abençoe e salve Israel 🇮🇱, Deus abençoe e salve a Ucrânia 🇺🇦, Deus abençoe e salve o Brasil 🇧🇷, Deus abençoe e salve o EUA 🇺🇸, Deus abençoe e salve a Argentina 🇦🇷 e Deus abençoe e salve as crianças.
Bub…..why all this farting around?? Dribbling, fancy pants foot work…..then he can’t score a goal in an hour and a half!! 0-0…1-0 just a pitiful score in a sport!!! A popular sport?? Watching paint dry is more exciting!!! Football mad…huh???
We all know how beautifull the game of football is. Lovers of the game can easily name a couple of players that are the epitamy of quality and beauty. The one name that surely is on that list is of sir Bobby Charlton. I am too young to have seen him play the game, but looking at these footages I am convinced that he is among the best of the game, ever!!! What amazes me the most is his space awareness on the pitch, where to be at the right moment, furthermore his left and right footed shot power, these goals are simply the best distance goals, touching the back of the net in a straight line!!!
Saying, if you didn’t go you could miss Denis Law scoring a hat trick, George Best turning ppl inside out. And I was known to hit the odd ball from outside the box. 😂 The most hilarious yet humble understatement. R.I.P. Sir Bobby.
Here after the sad loss of Sir Bobby Charlton, fantastic documentary fascinating insight. RIP Sir Bobby much respect to a United legend from a Tottenham season ticket holder.
