The writer's idea of a "smart person" is really telling of how they think a smart person is. this just shows that not a single person in the writing room knows what a smart person is or is one.

This video is right, The Boys used to be a lot more nuanced and was more about trying to get the audience to be interested in the politics of the world, but now it's just an outlet for the writers to plug in right wing talking points.

It is nothing too complicated: This show is writen by idiots. It wants to mangle on political topics but It has nothing deep or meaningful to say, only bitter cynissism and the warped world view of It's creator. The Boys were supposed to be a critique of modern corporatism, radicalization and celebrity idolatry, but ends up being the very thing It is trying to critique while pretends It is the outsider.

i dont think the whole soldier boy and stormfront characters are necessarily done because they are right wing but rather to show what being in a higher position (being a sup) does to people as a person. Soldier boy has a huge inflated ego and thinks that people should always believe and do as he wants and if they dont they get what they "deserve". Stormfront believes that she and all the other people with superpowers are above all normal humans, making them surperior. Her connections to the nazi regime probably brought up this belief towards for example black people and her having become a sup just projects this feeling onto all humans, the feeling that they are worth less, that they are worse. I personally wouldnt read too much political standpoints into this part of the show. However its not hard to tell that the show is clearly showing a political standpoint which in and of itself isnt bad in my opinion. Seeing parallels to the real world, if you agree with the standpoints of the show or not, gives you a new perspective on those said real things. The way that Vought's only concern is profit and how they abuse the fact that mave is a lesbian for their own monetary gain is a direct critique towards real life companies that spit out these unrealistic queer characters. The show also directly shows how it could be done better. Frenchie is authentic as a gay person in the series, its never really talked about the way he feels and it creates a normality. I think I speak for the majority that when you saw frenchie making out with a dude for the first time in the series it didnt feel like it was forced upon to include a gay person in the series, it felt natural and even contributed to frenchies own personal plot multiple times (overdosing of his best friend, feelings of regret in the most recent season). The fact that the characters only become vessels for the writers political viewpoints is completely wrong in my opinion. Blue hawk is a accurate representation of what a racist sup would look like. "ooh im not racist" "look at the numbers" "all live matters" all things that actual racist people would say. The trivia thing is just nitpicking in my opinions, yes the trivia is not unbiased towards the movie however its unclear how involved the actual writers of the show were with this trivia. Homelander is clearly a political LOL. He may not be on the extremist spectrum but he clearly is political. He feels a clear superiority towards normal humans similar to how nazis or racists feel that their ethnicity is superior to other ehtnicities. He (while probably not believing it himself) tries his best to appeal to christians. He is a huge patriot (his costume is literally in the colors of the american flag + he has the american flag as a cape). Clear indications for his political position and there is probably more that I cant think of without having to watch back the show. I know I already like talked about the whole frenchie thing but like I would love for you to explain your standpoint more. Why exactly do you feel it is awkward to watch? I mean yes it is supposed to be a bit awkward, you are watching someone being lied to, someone making out with the murderer of their own parents. As a viewer that gives an unpleasant feeling while watching but this would be the case regardless on if it was a man or woman and I am very sure that the writers intended it to be this way. the part about sage just aged really poorly with how the season has ended now but I get the point that it is very unnoticable until you really look back at it. She isnt making any "new cool weapons" with her engineering because thats not what she aims to do. She wants to experiment on how far she can get if she tried. But yea as said the sage part just really didnt age well with the end of the season. Idk why we are comparing firecracker to right wing politics? Firecracker is a crazy conspiracist with right wing opinions yes, but the majority of things that happen is because of the conspiracy stuff. The part that children are being kept at starlight house is a parody of how conspiracies think that rich people hold children hidden or smth like that. The usually more believed by conservative conspiracy theories are way more mainstream known so it makes more sense for them to choose those. Or can you tell me of a conspiracy theory (besides maybe that the recent shooting of trump was staged) that is usually associated with left wing? (genuine question please tell me if you know any). Yes the abortion part is clearly politicized, however I think its a totally valid way to give people space to think about this side of the arguement which doesnt hinder the plot. As someone who is for abortion rights, I personally would wish for people to show this clear why they are against them. For me there is only always religious belief (which I don't share so I don't relate to that arguement) or the want to not kill off a potential child, where I think that the childs life on average would be way worse without an abortion. For the last part: Using public funds for own gain is not a left wing only thing, this obviously doesnt make it unimplementable into the show however I disagree with your view point that it is necessarily left wing The false me2 allegations are yet again not necessarily left wing? atleast not from my point of view. Anyone can make false claims of abuse this is nothing political. About the art thing I have mentioned before that I think the show does critique this and also shows how to do it better. The thing about getting outraged about disagreement is shown tho for boths sides (it is again a thing where I dont think its left specific), but in season 4 where the fight is between the starlighters and homelander people both sides fight over the complete convincement that the other side is in the wrong.

Confronting populism/fascism, sexual exploitation of women, and religious fanaticism is not leftism. Also Soldier Boy isn't a Boomer. He was born long before the War. The reason the show is critical of the far-right is that these issues are inherent to the current power structure. The qualified immunity that law enforcement agents enjoy is reality. There's no such thing as the "far left" in the sense there is a far right that actively antagonizes us.

This season was pandering trash that felt like it was constantly talking down to half its viewers, I'm not even American and it annoyed me. Besides that barely anything happened, pure filler shit, looking forward to it ending if this is the quality we can expect. It really felt more for the teenager/young adult crowd more than any other season, how many god damn shots of Homelander slowly breaking down is the show expecting to edge off to ffs.

For an European it is always fun when an American say "leftist". As if there where socialists in the Democratic Party. I never saw an democrat calling for the end of money (donations) or the ownership. Why should they, many are indescribably rich. Whatever words the right-wingers serve up to their voters, they swallow it. But I guess that's what happens when you're lied to and you don't have any education to counter it...

The main issue with the ideology you've chosen to portray in this video regarding The Boys is that you said that the show never took a stand on politics when it knew it couldn't convey them, it did, in the first episode, Homelander is a narcissist who doesn't want any betterment to the world, he is in a position of power(more now than he was in the first season) that pretty much grants him every right possible to do good or to help but the power that the position contains is immense, he can do whatever he pleases and whatever he pleases is NOT in the benefit of humanity or the good of others, he is self centric, does not give a fuck about anyone around him, that is to blame on the way he grew up but then again, every other supe in the universe seems to be only interested in their own good and never in the good of others. Another important thing to note is that, even in the comics, the end commences to Homelander taking over the white house and all hell let loose, the show portrays politics to a deep level, Homelander isn't just evil superman killing by the dozens, he's evil superman that wants to become president and to run the whole country of America and perhaps the world, politics are engrained in the story because politics are the end goal of homelander and his ideology, the ending of the current season puts it together nicely, he becomes president and the agenda he's been pushing before is now amped up to the max in order for him to satisfy his goals, you cannot become a president without ever engaging into politics now, can you? Your opinion is valid but the take you've chosen is flawed, he is a parody of Trump, at least to some extent, his appearance has nothing to do with Trump tho, being blonde does not make you a parody of Trump, his actions speak for themselves and there's no need to goof around with unsavoury comments regarding the body of Trump, the show only focuses on his politics and Homelander is the spitting image of Trump. I don't care about politics, i'm not even american but i understand the show's standing and its mockery of political groups, i enjoy it.

I disagree that S1 cleverly weaves the showrunner's political views into the plot. The Deep's sexual harassment, the tele-evangelical hypocrisy of Ezekiel et. al. are all ridiculous, unconvincing caricatures of moral and cultural degradation. They are all debauched, utterly degenerate and soulless individuals who hardly represent America's modern conservative movement. But I definitely agree with this powerful quote - "As a show that criticises media manipulation and echo chambers. You think it will know better than this, that it will transcend the problems of modern politics, that everyone have to self-reflect on their values... Its clear that the writers of the boys are as irresponsible and misguided as the MAGA fanatics that they parody. Keep up with this excellent content Ethan!

The show disregards every right-leaning person as a dumb character whose concerns and beliefs are all founded on lies. Like the mainstream leftist establishment who control media, education and government should never be put into question for their own beliefs and ideas because you'd be considered an extremist if you dared to make an argument against them.

Absolutely nailed it. Excellent analysis and breakdown. The question is not when did they become political, but at what point did the writer's personal biases and political beliefs become the focal point of the character dialogue. It's far more evident the writers disdain for one side of the political isle and not the other.

Maybe politics and the superhero genre don't mix? Just too convoluted and unrealistic. The original comics, grim and edgy as they were, only explored what too much literal power could do to one man, and was a critique of superheroes. In the TV series, the US' biggest corporation is saying "look, we depicted right wingers as nutjobs with superpowers". It is not a real critique, but more of a childish mockery that has little connection with the real world.

Cool vid, I just want to say how I think this show does its way into talking about the politics. While I agree the right gets a bit too much focus and it’s a little unbalanced on who gets made fun of, I still think the left has fs gotten made fun of a lot throughout the show. The left in the show less uses what they say and more rather what they do to be more equal. The A-Train Commerical being one of them. I do agree though that the show really should’ve a commentary on both sides when comes to the very far left or far right. I think the writing style had to change this season due to the fact far right content has been very popular everywhere you go. So it was inevitable the show would lean into that direction. Season 4 focuses more on the legality of how supes should operate outside their original purpose. Homelander is trying to get his fans to disagree with bills with his immense power, so it would be pretty hard not to do it on the nose with the writing when it came to the right. Overall though, I think EPS 4-6 have been some of the best in the whole show, just out there and fun the episodes can get. For the character arcs I really have no idea they would’ve toke with Frenchie or Kimiko’s arcs. I think they should’ve been regulated to be an assist so the Boys could further destroy Vought and the Seven. Sorry if I had bad grammar I just wanted to say that, good vid 👍

I can already tell any leftists who watch this video are going to be triggered and will try to dunk on you for being the triggered one but this really was a well thought out and fair video. To me The Boys has always been woke leftist propaganda but at least so far it has managed to stay entertaining enough to keep going with it as much as I may roll my eyes when Stan Edgar makes a random as hell comment that he doesn’t have the same privileges as a white guy. Most people aren’t just realizing how that the show has been overtly leftist. We have always known that. It’s just the show has been undeniably getting progressively dumber and dumber as it goes on and it becomes more difficult to overlook the one sided political slop. For fucks sake in the last episode Homelander sees a bullet hole in Sages head and does literally nothing. The guy can see through walls and could have discovered the boys in 2 seconds buts they really gotta drive the point home that Homelander is just so dumb now. I do wonder if they realize they are completely and totally killing any tension that previously existed in the show by jumping the shark like that.
