“COOL BIG RIGS” RU-vid channel dedicates itself to spotting "Big Rigs" hauling various freight and commodities through Vernon, a fast growing little city located in the Interior of British Columbia, Canada. "The North Okanagan.'' Forestry, agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and construction are the main economics of the area. Trucking enthusiasts will enjoy Class 8 trucks at work keeping the local and provincial economy going.

On occasion I future unrelated content to trucking. Mainly local car shows, lake adventures, basically general outings within the beautiful city of Vernon.

All videos on this channel have been filmed by me. (Hence the poor quality!) They are not the most dramatic videos, however, I truly hope they are enjoyable on some level.

Thanks for watching!

@@blinkie1523 Mate, sorry to to read you haven't been well. Hopefully nothing too serious. But I can relate. My health has surely changed over the past few months, even over the past year or two. There was a time I created one new video each week. Now at the age of 60, I can barely get one video filmed, edited and posted within four months. Health issues slow me down. Everything in my body has slowed. I am constantly healing chronic skin issues. The relentless heat this past summer kept me from filming trucks in direct sunlight. I just can't tolerate 40°C weather more than one hour. My health certainly has put a decline into my RU-vid channel. Sorry I can't get out there to make videoslike I once had. Thank goodness the heat wave is over. Cool temperatures have settled in for late August. Let me know how you're feeling. Sending positive vibes your way🙏😎

Some how missed this video.... great spot to be with the camera Chester 👌 a car show is always worth a look ... and certainly a lot of stunning vehicles, I did like the Chevy van, just seemed to be done right 👌.... 41c is pretty warm for anyone,,,, as I now run up to Darwin each week and it's winter here in Oz but still 35c in Darwin 🥵, not sure how I will manage during summer which is also the wet season ... humidity will knock me around a bit and will have to unload / load during the evening when its cooler, I look at a bit of stuff and news from New Zealand where I grew up and am envious of them having such a beautiful cold winter with dams freezing over, good enough to go curling on, snow all over the place... Loved your pick up Chester, beautiful car, i can understand you missing it ... thank you for the great video, really enjoyed it, take care and chat soon...cheers Wilson

Wilson, I've never experienced humidity to a degree of uncomfortability. Can only imagine how unbearable it must be working in such a damp atmosphere. I turned 60 in July, can no longer bear direct 35C+ sunlight more than 2 hours without wanting to pass out. (Craving to be a curler on a frozen Oz dam.🥶. I certainly miss my youth. Loved heat back then. Recall working hours under 38C heat ...not really experiencing fatigue other than being incredibly thirsty. I must clarify, was never happy working in that temperature, but my body withstood the challenge. No choice, had to earn my $5.55 per hour doing brake repair work.😆 Sorry to keep this reply short, but it's late hours and I needed to say thank you for replying to the video. I certainly miss my old orange pumpkin pickup. hoping your doing well. Definitely load, unload at night. When they came indoors a few hours ago it was 27 Celsius at 9 PM. Dark. sundown, 7:45 PM. Autumn is on its way. Hope spring meets you with open arms and restful temperatures to get some good trucking in. Cheers, mate. Chester.👍😎

Bruce Harvey's blog brought me here - reading a dramatic account of a runaway when the brakes would not hold coming down from Lumby with a loaded train - he managed to get his train to finally halt on this trestle without derailing.

@@oldelephantstew I read Bruce Harvey's dramatic account years ago of a runaway train entering Lumby junction. The story resonated, myself being local. Wish my video footage did justice to the vast, aged, wood and metal beam structure. Entire trestle built "curved." Vehicle traffic below, general store left, some 30 yards away. Just thinking of a derail scenario is upsetting. Thank goodness Bruce regained control of his iron steed. Thank you for watching the video. I appreciate your viewership..

@@wclearwater1 Glad you enjoyed the classic cars. I absolutely love classics from hot rods to original muscle cars. I wish I had better quality video but it was so hot I had it get the film done and seek shade. I haven't been out filming trucks lately because the weather's been absolutely scorching at 41 Celsius. (105 F) My aging body cannot withstand that heat very long. So I hope to post truck videos soon once summer temperatures cool down. Only seven weeks on summer left then it's downswing to winter. Having a universal legal height across Canada and America regarding car carriers would make life so much easier. I don't understand why this cannot be achieved in today's world. @@blinkie1523 OMG. I'm doing well, but way too hot. 41 Celsius today. I went out for an hour, returned home minutes ago sitting here with a wet cloth on my head, letting fans cool me down. Lol. Have AC but not a big fan of it. Glad you like the rumbling V8's. Some beautiful machinery. But I must chuckle, every one of the owners were in their late 60s, 70s and even into their 80s. Owning one of these classic car muscle machines is not a young man's game. I just turned 60 last week. No longer do I have my Ute. Couldn't drive it after my spinal injury, so I just had it stored 30 years then sold it back in 2014. I think that's the year I put on the video? 🤓 My age is getting to me today. Lol. Or the heat is. I miss driving it, I miss driving any vehicle. Haven't driven for decades. Very envious that it's winter down under. Only 4 PM, many more hours to go until sundown. We experienced the odd sunny day, but spring has been unseasonably cool and wet. I'm not complaining, winter snowpack was dismal. The mountains need all the moisture they can get. Wildfire season is a month off and there's already 150 forest fires currently burning. A city in northern British Columbia evacuated. I'm filming trucks when opportunities arise. Had a run of lowbeds (lowboy, for my American friends) so here's yet another video of heavy equipment being moved around. Unfortunately many units without equipment. Poor timing on my part.
