Those posh floating houses have been erected on the floating jetties of the ex-naval port. It closed down in the 1990s. Two military institutions in Flensburg are left: The cadet school/naval academy is still in its building from 1910 and the ex-radio operator /signal school now houses a centre for worldwide intelligence.
Hopefully you enjoyed this. One of the nicest spots in the Baltic Sea (although there are a lot more). If you are visiting one more time, try to get to the island of Anholt. Nice trip up there and a very beautiful island.
