Let’s say I got a mutual Fund sum of Re. 10,00,000 and want to book whole sum after 6 Yrs. Monthly SIP being Re. 10,000. While booking whole sum of MF: (a) I’ll be incurring LTCG on Re. 9 Lacs. (b) How do I save ourselves from incurring STCG on last 01 year of investment made of Re.1 lacs while booking whole sum of MF.
Hey @vaibhavkaushik8231, quick breakdown of your mutual fund tax situation: a) LTCG: You'll pay this on ₹8.80 lakhs, not ₹9 lakhs. Remember, first ₹1 lakh of gains is tax-free. b) Avoiding STCG on last year's ₹1.20 lakhs: - Ideally, wait till these units complete one year. - If selling now, sell older units first, keep newer ones if possible. - If selling all, be ready for STCG on the ₹1.20 lakhs. Sir u gave scenario of 2012 value of gold @ 33000.. but just in 2011 it was between 19500-21000 . Imagine what profit investors made within one yr. Also, as is proposed in Mutual funds ..dnt stop investing. If some wise people would have bought gold @ 33000 or so from 2012 till 2019 ..they would be siting on 2.5 x returns as on date. What more does one want. Even real estate behaves like this only
