Sounds better than Axel and the guitar player is as good as slash so I think if slash is always in the top 20 Best guitarist of all time then so should this guy
Thanks! I bought them from yahoo auctions in Japan. They may have stopped producing them….at least they were saying that about a year ago. I do love them!
Nope….there really aren’t any replacement shock/strut options without major fabrication so just go with springs and you’re good. My struts were fine. Same for my former Carry truck as well.
After watching your video, I didn’t even try to make mends with the original studs. The exhaust system is divided into 4 parts, all removable individually. After the flex pipe, there a junction there just before the cat, I took it apart there which is a lot easier, and took out the entire muffler with flex pipe section attached. The studs are a breeze to dissemble with the whole thing out of the truck. They are pressed in, not soldered in place, a couple of wacks with a hammer took them out, and I replaced both with new longer studs. The Wirus comes with an aluminum crush gasket that works like a charm with longer studs, and it also comes with a silencer baffle that quiets it down to a perfect level. I guess yours was second hand and didn’t come with those. While I was there, I even took out the cat section and gave it a nice clean. It now sounds good and the butt dyno says it runs better. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Dylan…in US dollars, that’s like 6600 which is a bit high unless it’s really clean and already been gone through as far as maintenance. If I were looking for a 99, I’d expect to pay about 4500 off the boat.
I was there way back in the lawn- I was suprised Axls voice was so good because of some videos i had seen on the internet, but holy shit he did not disappoint- and dont even get be started on slash!
Are you running the stock struts, or did you replace them? If not stock, who/where did you go for replacements? I have the same size wheel and tire combo as you on my 97 Acty, and I'm on stock struts/springs. I'm getting some rubbing, but I dont want to go with a lift kit.
Just saw ur channel on WBTF. Nice rugs man! Trying to find the banging noise under my 91 Acty. My new springs maybe…but it’s driving me crazy over every little bump.
Thanks! It doesn’t hurt to double check the springs. On my first set, they ended up reseating themselves. Luckily I went to swap them shortly thereafter and caught the issue.
I think it looks nice but I think for like the first year or two of these being produced they were too orangey where as now I think they look better the past 2 years or so
I have a 1997 and I'm in the middle-end of solving the same problem with that stuck shorter bolt. Here's what I learned. The bolt is basically welded in (Maybe done in the factory to speed install?). Instead of cutting off the threaded side and drilling out, cut off the head. I used an oscillating tool. It may look like a crushed washer or something or deep rust, but I am almost sure its welded. Once I cut the head off the bolt and hammered from the threaded side, a splined portion of the bolt began sliding out. Victory! I'm off to by new nuts and bolts. This video was very helpful in preparing me. I'm installing a Wirus Win Sport exhaust, if that helps.
The bolts are pressed in. I took both of mine out with a hammer. The exhaust is divided into 4 removable parts, I took out the whole thing one step down just before the cat, made the whole thing miles easier.
