Good to know. I hooked up a port from the battery for a jumper pack, to make it easier. Somebody told me you could jump it through the trickle charging wire. But I do not believe that will work

I wish I had seen this video over 2 years ago 😂. But I am glad I know now for future reference (let’s hope I don’t need it fingers crossed 🤞). Bike got trailered up from Florida to DE with the key fob still in FL. When I finally made it up to DE battery was dead from alarm going off. But battery was so dead it wouldn’t start again until it was nearly fully charged. Alarm wouldn’t even disengage until it was charged back up over 85%. Anyways thanks!
It took 14 videos but finally! My '21 Heritage is the same. Due to life happening I haven't been on my bike for months, and the battery is very close to dead. I knew how to jump my Electra Glides, but they are long gone. These Softails are a nightmare! I thank you for doing the hard part and finding that stasrter stud, now I can get mine running and get it to the dealer for a new battery. I'm not installing that myself!
Great video, I liked the way you used a blue (NON-black, haha) pointer to very specifically show that rubber cover that needs to be pulled aside. I was a bit horrified to see you hook up your ground wire first, though... the positive always goes on first, the neg always comes off first.
Well pos and neg only matters when completing the circuit and i hooked up the bike to be jumped first. Also the pos.neg thing was a issue in non sealed batteries. It could be a issue if your batteries is cracked and leaking gas, Sealed batteries came onto the market in 1971 but the whole Neg terminal last cautionary tail has persisted. the who propose of this tale was to prevent the very last connection from creating a possible spark as far away from the gas that may be leaking from a non-sealed battery. When people started mentioning this I had to go do research because I have never had a battery that old.
That looks like the "Spectrum contractor" sign. This means he doesn't actually work FOR Spectrum, but has been contracted to do work for them. Probably won't get any response from Spectrum.
