Something great about the discover card that I don’t see any talk about is the 10% boost when redeeming cash back for gift cards. Basically redeeming $100 in gift cards will give you a $110 gift card.

I was shocked at your positive take on the chase quarterly categories for this quarter! I thought it was complete garbage. But I get what you’re saying. I was hoping for Costco which was last quarter last year. I finally got a Costco membership recently with the chase $20 back with new Costco membership. They really tricked me !!!
1. Chase Sapphire Reserve - Travel and Dining points, megaboost, Travel perks! 2. P2 Chase Sapphire Preferred - Groceries 3. Chase Freedom Flex - Random Categories 4. Chase Freedom Unlimited - Catch all and transfer to CSR for megaboost. Basically enjoy your cheap or near free hotels and car rentals as the result. And really good value on flights either from transferring or in travel portal.
Not sure if they will change anything with the It card if the acquisition is completed. We'll have to wait and see, but I'm curious how everything would go!
The ironic thing is that I don't even have any Capital One cards in my wallet because they won't approve me in the first place for having too many cards! 😂 Still love them though, but come on Capital One haha
Yeah I've got some things planned to focus even more on those! There's a transfer partner guide that you can download in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uIY268QxEGE.html which has a column for the top transfer partners
That was actually only in one video about a year and a half ago where I did that. A bit of a longer story to explain better than I can in a comment haha. But long story short, kind of a misunderstanding on my part and I've continued talking about Discover in plenty of videos over the past year. Definitely always been one of the best cash back cards and happy to have it after all these years! 👍
@@Daniel_Braun It is indeed a great card, especially for students just get the SSN and its cash back match in the first year! Thank you for the content!
Just mainly using the Ink Unlimited, and occasionally the Ink Preferred. Haven't used the Ink Cash much lately - but the sign up bonuses on all 3 cards have been great!
What about the Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express, I know it does not earn any amex points but still a good card right? Also whats going to happen to the discover cards now that Capital One has bought them?
Still a very good card for cash back purposes! But for me, I'm focusing mostly on earning points and miles for travel and so there's just better options than that. The Discover it works great for cash back right now because of the 5% multiplier as well as the first year cash back match. And only time will tell what will happen if and when the acquisition is completed! Lots of stuff to speculate about but no one truly knows
Five guys is loaded with peanuts everywhere and peanut oil - and unfortunately I'm deathly allergic haha. So never gonna use that, but I do use Grubhub from time to time. Very rarely though so I don't value it in my expectatons
Have you done a video on how you manage budgeting with the spending and making payments across numerous cards? I’m getting into the credit card game and the idea of putting everything on cards seems a little nerve wracking. I know it’s a matter of staying within your means and paying everything off every month but it would be awesome to be able to better understand that process!
Yeah I've made this video on how I use a custom budgeting template that you can download for free: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_JBxP_oz2kQ.html I use that template in combination with Rocket Money now because I have a lot of cards and the Rocket Money app helps me to see all of my transactions in one place really quickly. Then I just change all of my credit card due dates to fall on the same day which makes it easy to make sure that I'm always paying off each one in full. If you're going to have multiple cards and worry about getting overwhelmed and losing track of things, then my best advice is to start out slow and see what feels comfortable. Hope that helps!
I’m glad you’re jumping on team Discover Boss 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 Just one question, do you find any value in Bilt Status??? I’m currently on Blue Status and need to spend $3,000 more, excluding rent, in order to move up into the Silver Status…
Personally I have Silver status until the end of this year and I haven't found it worth it for my uses. Some other people may find value here and there with higher levels of Bilt status, but the only thing I would really want is the elevated transfer rates. Only problem is that those occasional elevated rates are on the first day of the month only and I don't really like to transfer speculatively (prefer to transfer at the time that I need to book and find award space). If you can pretty easily and organically reach Silver then it could be worth trying out, but I'm not personally in a rush to reach status for next year
If you watch the whole video you'll see that I give new context for different updates in my wallet setup. I understand that I make these wallet updates every quarter, but I only keep making them because people choose to watch them. If that ever changes then I'll stop making them, so it's pretty simple. No hard feelings if you choose to pass on watching these wallet updates, but just wanted to give you the full picture of it 👍
Hello, I recently received my Chase freedom unlimited card and wanted to get the Chase freedom flex as well (at a later date); but it doesn’t show on the page when I sign in and look at the available credit cards. Do you have any idea why that is and when I should apply for my best chances for approval (I’ve only applied for and have 3 cards)
Really nice breakdown! I love my OG freedom especially because when wholesale stores are a category I can use it at Costco since it’s a visa and the flex is a MasterCard
We've been to 17 countries this year (returned today from Winnipeg), so Citi Strata wins on rental cars (CDW covered overseas), gas, grocery, and dining at 3X worldwide. Amex Gold doesn't travel worldwide.
Yeah for worldwide benefits, the Citi Strata Premier wins in those areas! Wow 17 countries is insane! I've been to 4 over the past year and that feels like a lot to me haha. Good stuff!
@@sideeeeeee7870 that was the Premier, the Prestige is their top shelf card they closed applications to a couple years ago but left existing accounts open. Strata Elite is the term they trademarked and is assumed to be an upcoming luxury card release
I started with a Discover it Student Cash Back my freshman year of college. Then I got an internship, and at the time Chase offered 5% back on gas the first year on the Freedom Unlimited. I got that card. Once I graduated, I got the Costco Anywhere Card and a flat 2% card with my local credit union. I have since product changed the Freedom Unlimited to the Freedom Flex and opened a Citi Custom Cash. I plan to stay on level 2 because I don't have time and don't spend enough to deal with the additional tracking/management involved in travel rewards.
I’m booking a trip from SFO to LIH, Hawaii. I saw that the flight I want is available for star rewards on united but when I go over to Turkish website it says no seats available for any of the flights. Suggestions?
Let's go down to earth with the practicle example. My rent is 2110 per month, the good cpp target is 2.5 cpp, most probably a Hyatt. in this scenario, over the year, i expect to redeem over Hyaat stay something like: 12*2110*2.5/100 = $633. Thank you.
Actually, if you utilize it right, it can help your credit, you can make your Payments using a credit card that you will normally use anyway for the purchase. But you still have to be responsible on the fact. And budget your money wisely. What people that have a sound mind of how to use money can actually utilize this to build a credit way easier while getting the things that they need. Weather is for everyday life. What to help with their business
Marcus has lowered APY to 4.25% as of last week. Looking to move my money elsewhere, since plenty of places offer much better rates. Thanks for the solid video. 💪
Apple card is definitely rated too low. CASH back on the DAY of spend (even if it is 2%) an then having it auto deposited into a ~5% high interest rate savings account makes the value worth much much more than the freedom points you are comparing it against. Also the txt based communication with customer support for any issues 24/7 and being able generate new card numbers instantly makes this one of the safest card and best value card without any entrance fee.
thanks for all your videos and advice... have a question? have a chase i pay $95 a year for keeping it alive. I'm not sure if it is worth it since i don't use it much. any advice on that.
