Music is quite distracting 👎. A list of parts and measurements would have been great, as well as explaining each step. When doing a instruction video of how to, it's kinda important to actually explain how to. Also I would never use a heat gun that close to my expensive recumbent trike powder-coated finish, just so I could melt the pvc conduit to shape it. Very careless, but it's your trike. Patience and doing things correctly in the long run is always better. Using a angle finder tool would have been better to pre-cut the correct angle of the pvc pipe to better fit the cross-member of your trike.
Has anyone tried this hack to extend the range of the Copenhagen Wheel using an external 48v battery paired with a DC to DC boost converter instead? One can set the output to 54.6v to mimic a 48v charger.
All parts ordered from the orange store. Little more than 60.00 for parts and I got my canopy off Amazon. Less skin cancer from the Florida sun... Priceless! Thanks for doing this!
Hi Jason Well it’s been 4 yrs since you first posted this DIY and it’s still the one to build! I also have a Dumount and I worked on it yesterday. Have the PVC pipe to heat and add to the unit and I’ll be complete❤. My pole connectors are oriented strait up and down. As someone else commented the design of the conduit holder has changed. No nut, instead it screws into the other side plate that is setup to self fasten. I would prefer if it had a nut. With the holders completely vertical I ended up removing the one pole section entirely. Today will test it in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just north of Westminster. Just one update on the supply list. The conduit hanger comes in different sizes. Started with a 0, but it would not secure the sides together with bolt-went to size 1 and it worked just fine. With Colorado having over 300 days of sunshine each year-your Canopy design will help reduce some of the sun rays!!
I know you posted this 4 years ago...I found it looking for advice on how to inject (from a regular person doing it)...I'm starting my weight loss journey starting with this and then to Wegovy...how are you doing - from your other videos, looks like you lost a good amount of weight. Wishing you well.
Nice - Ive used the DIY canopy for a couple years - it works well MOST of the time (I really like?need the shade it gives). But a question now that you have used it a few years, what do you do for side gust *yes, I live in DFW area and side gust have done it NO good) do you have any suggestions ?? Thanks.
Where did you get your solar unit from. I have been looking for one about that size! I really am interested in that also I like the way you made this unit I think it might work well on an adult Liberty trike!
How does this motor feel compare to the Copenhagen? Is this a cadence sensor motor? What are the specs? I have a Dumont with a Falco torque sensing motor.
Can you tell me what kind of a mount you made for your cane to the trike. I got my kayak shade cover 3 weks ago so thank you for a better way to mount it.
Thanks for showing us your solution with this canopy. Last week I've built something similar using old GFK tent poles and a 100W flexible solar cell :-)
