Mine had bad brushes. Infinity resistance on motor. Brush worn very short, opened the circuit. Now I replaced the brushes, the motor runs but I cant get the lift to run the motor. I want to test the solid state controller that operates the motor. I have 24.5 volts at this controller and it should ground the motor to make it run. Two small terminals are 1 and 3. I dont want to apply voltage across them because I am afraid that wrong polarity could damage the controller. My display reads "READY GS 1930 385.5 Hours." Any suggestions?

Great video. I am curious what the two push/pull knobs do at the back? (under the aux power cord) I am guessing Hydraulic related because of the block they go into 🤷‍♂

Thanks for watching our video. If I am understanding you correctly, the 2 knobs you are referring to, (one is round and red and the other right next to it is smaller and black and both are located under the ladder.) are used for releasing the brakes for transport in the event the machine becomes inoperable and needs to be loaded for service by a qualified technician. Please refer to the operator's manual specific to your Genie GS1930 located in the weather resistant compartment on the platform. You will find the information you are looking for under "Transport and Lifting Instructions" then look under the heading "Break Release Operation". As always we need to make sure everyone understands that OSHA requires that only properly trained and authorized people operate an aerial lift.

Any advice on raising the basket to access the hydraulic cylinder? Seals blew out and won’t lift. Floor jacks on the cross members? Fork lift? Winch it up on cherry picker? Just curious before I break something 😁

Thanks for watching our video. First we must emphasize that OSHA mandates that only properly trained personnel are allowed to use an aerial lift. Aerial lift operator training protocol tells us that only a qualified service technician may make repairs to any scissor lift, boom lift or vertical mast lift. Unless you have been specifically trained as a qualified service technician, this repair should not be performed by you. We highly recommend you contact your nearest authorized Skyjack dealer to find the repair facility in your area. If you need assistance in locating an authorized dealer, copy and paste this link into your browser: www.skyjack.com/product-support Thanks and good luck!

Once the boom is positioned where you want it, can you turn off the engine?
@AlexanderEquipmentRentalInc
@AlexanderEquipmentRentalInc 2 месяца назад
The short answer is yes. Once you have the boom platform positioned to where work is needed it is generally safe to shut off the engine then restart when you need to move. We would like to emphasize the importance of a proper pre-operation inspection and comprehensive function tests prior to use to make sure everything is in working order before beginning operation. Both check lists can be found in the model specific operator's manual located in the weather proof compartment on the platform.

Thanks for watching our channel. Based on your description, we believe it is possible that there is an issue with a limit switch on your Skyjack SJ3219. This is an issue that only a qualified aerial lift service technician is authorized to repair. We highly recommend that you contact an authorized Skyjack dealer in your area to get this issue resolved. Here is the link to Skyjack product support to assist you in finding a dealer near you: www.skyjack.com/product-support . Hope this helps!

How does one operate this on non level ground say around a building ? Does the base compensate up to a certain amount of slope ?
@AlexanderEquipmentRentalInc
@AlexanderEquipmentRentalInc 4 месяца назад
Thanks for watching our video. This is a great question and requires a bit of detail so please forgive the long reply. Traveling in the stowed position is allowed on a sloped surface as long as it does not exceed the max slope rating for the machine. Maximum travel grade in the stowed position can be found in the operator's manual and should be 30% for 2WD and 45% for 4WD option. (Maximum side slope for traveling in stowed position is 5 degrees) However, all MEWP's including a JLG 400S boom lift are intended to be elevated only on a firm level surface. Always rely on the manufacturer provided operators manual specific to the make and model of the machine you are required to operate. The following is directly from the JLG 400S operator's manual: "Section 4.2 Operating Characteristics and Limitations: Capacities: Raising the boom above horizontal and/or extension of boom beyond retracted position with or without a load is based on the following criteria: 1. Machine is positioned on smooth, firm and level surface. 2. Load is within the manufacturer's rated design capacity. 3. All machine systems are functioning properly. 4. Proper tire pressure exists in the tires. 5. Machine is as originally equipped from JLG." The only lifts that can be elevated on a sloped surface are ones that are equipped with outriggers such as a properly equipped rough terrain scissor lift. Remember, only trained and authorized personnel are allowed to operate a mobile elevating work platform. We highly recommend proper training for all operators.

Why would you go backwards unloaded on a ramp? I can't figure out the logic difference if you were going forward. Is it based on how sharp of an incline?
@AlexanderEquipmentRentalInc
@AlexanderEquipmentRentalInc 4 месяца назад
Thanks for watching our video. Great question! A lot of operators ask the same thing. A sloped surface is defined as any angle that exceeds 10%, so the sharpness of angle does not necessarily affect this rule. The reason why forklift operators are required to have forks pointed downhill without a load when operating on a sloped surface has to do with the location of the counterweight combined with acceleration or deceleration. Because the counterweight is located on the rear of the forklift, when there is no load on the forks, if you travel with the empty forks uphill the counterweight is downhill. In this situation, as you accelerate going up the ramp, or apply the brakes while going down the ramp, because of the dynamics of a load in motion, there is a possibility the center of gravity can move outside the stability triangle causing a tip over. (The elements of the stability triangle are the front 2 tires and the center point of the rear axel.) The safe method is to always travel on the ramp or sloped surface with empty forks pointed downhill.

Thanks for watching our videos. Unfortunately the only help we can offer from here is to recommend you contact your local Skyjack dealer and get assistance on this repair by a qualified technician. Aerial lift operator training mandates "Repairs to the MEWP may only be made by a qualified service technician according to the manufacturers specifications." If you need assistance in locating an authorized repair facility, we suggest you start on Skyjack's website and click on the "Support" tab near the top of the home page. Here's the link: www.skyjack.com/ Good luck!

Thanks for watching our channel! We're happy you found the information included helpful. Yours is a very good question. We would like to emphasize that OSHA requires that anyone operating an aerial lift must be properly trained and familiarized with the specific make and model of machine they are required to operate. MEWP training states specifically that you should never use a machine if any control or safety device is malfunctioning or has been tampered with. The answer to your question is operators are not allowed to alter any safety device on the machine. Hope this helps you and others who may have similar questions.

everyone i worked with at my last job always pointed uphill when they had empty loads wtf AND pointed downhill when they had loads they only drove in reverse when their view was obstructed... no one ever called each other out even the people that are ALWAYS using the forklifts.. We're they doing something wrong or what? maybe i just don't have great memory.
@AlexanderEquipmentRentalInc
@AlexanderEquipmentRentalInc 6 месяцев назад
Unfortunately there are a lot of forklift operators out there that have not gone through a proper OSHA mandated training course. Properly trained forklift operators know forks must point uphill when loaded and downhill when unloaded when traveling on a ramp or sloped surface. Regardless of whether you are going up or down the ramp. In the case where a load blocks the operator's view, when traveling up a ramp, they are required to drive forward with forks pointed uphill and use a spotter with proper hand signals. So, to answer your question, if operators were not following these rules, they were definitely doing something incorrect.
